Will diversity destroy America?

But a massive new study, based on detailed interviews of nearly 30,000 people across America, has concluded just the opposite. Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam -- famous for "Bowling Alone," his 2000 book on declining civic engagement -- has found that the greater the diversity in a community, the fewer people v**e and the less they volunteer, the less they give to charity and work on community projects. In the most diverse communities, neighbors trust one another about half as much as they do in the most homogenous settings. The study, the largest ever on civic engagement in America, found that virtually all measures of civic health are lower in more diverse settings.

Putnam claims the US has experienced a pronounced decline in "social capital," a term he helped popularize. Social capital refers to the social networks -- whether friendships or religious congregations or neighborhood associations -- that he says are key indicators of civic well-being. When social capital is high, says Putnam, communities are better places to live. Neighborhoods are safer; people are healthier; and more citizens v**e.

The results of his new study come from a survey Putnam directed among residents in 41 US communities, including Boston. Residents were sorted into the four principal categories used by the US Census: black, white, Hispanic, and Asian. They were asked how much they trusted their neighbors and those of each racial category, and questioned about a long list of civic attitudes and practices, including their views on local government, their involvement in community projects, and their friendships. What emerged in more diverse communities was a bleak picture of civic desolation, affecting everything from political engagement to the state of social ties.

I think we are coming to diverse. Parents can't recognize their own kids and are rejecting them and grandparents have stopped being helicopter grandparents to grandchildren that resemble a cross betwern AOC, Omar and Tlaib. Real ugly grandkids with huge mouths!!

I believe that the acceptance of diversity is a good thing. People shouldn't shun people of other types, wh**ever they might be. Accept them as fellow humans. But diversity as a goal is of no social or real advantage as shown by the lead post. In other words, diversity for the sake of diversity sucks and is just another democrat tool to weaken America and its cohesiveness and unity.

Part of my thinking is that people care for their family first. After that, their caring and strength of caring slowly dissipates as you verge away from the immediate family, co-workers, school, religion, ethnicity, language, sex, sexual orientation, country, etc. the further away from that family, the less the caring. This is a natural phenomena and should not be argued against, but argued for, while always having compassion for those that aren't like your self, and in fact far away. There is no need for actual hostility towards those that are further away from your self, but you don't have to sleep with them either just to prove you are liberal. Intimately, you better protect your own kind first, because if you don't, some of the other kind will not be so compassionate as you are, if they ever get to be the dominate kind.

Allow diversity in a limited fashion, allowing those that really want to be like you, and with you, to gradually assimilate and get closer to being like you. But never let them force their differences onto you or yours. Welcome those characteristics that you like, slowly, as you grow together. But never leave that opinion that your family is special and it comes first.

Bogus claim. The Founding Fathers with their belief in liberty, justice, and a belief in God created the United States. The concept of E Pleuribus Unum also helped to create the US. We used to be a diverse people who came together for the good of our country. Now, the l*****ts have splintered each diverse group into devisive groups.
