Agree that it was an apt metaphor for the 2016 e******n. But think your 2nd example is more apt to visualizing the 2016 Republican primaries.

Because we don't know the outcome of the current e******n cycle your metaphor is more a case of wishful thinking.

Still early....who would have bet on Trump in 2016 during the primaries? Besides, I wouldn't expect you to bet on any Democrat....they simply aren't your cup of tea I'm guessing.

I had high hopes for Pete... But have since found him less and less appealing...

Biden would have been a good pick if he had simply remained left of center... His attempts to keep up with the others made him look feeble...

The others haven't appealed to me yet...

But you're correct concerning Trump...(although, full disclosure, I have supported him since the first time I heard him campaign.....before that I thought he was a bit of a joke)....
