Sanders is not wrong for wanting to do something about the affordable housing shortage. For at least two decades now all new homes have been "McMansions that only the upper middle class can afford. Real estate has only gone up in price and older homes are torn down and a New much larger and expensive one put in its place. We need large tracts of affordable housing units to be built immediately. I live in a little out of the way place with a serious affordable housing problem. With rents on a two bedroom home going for $1250a month most people here cannot afford it. The eviction rate and tenant turnover rate is high. Society has gotten cold blooded and selfish--There is little support for government intervention and lots of ridicule for any plan involving tax dollars. We have developed a caste sysem in this country now that is inescapable for the average citizen. Some thing has to be done but nothing happens till somebody does something. Myself and my family are fortunate to be living in a home that will be paid off in 3 years. Every American should have the opportunity to own a home they can afford and renters should have rentals that fit their incomes.

This is amazing! For a fraction of the cost of the needless war in Iraq we could house every poor homeless person in the nation, see to it that every American had quality medical care and an education!

What is wrong with a caste system?

As far as housing goes, have you tried reducing the number of people in the country?

Foreign investment is down, so more housing is available.

If you like perpetual poverty for the lowest wage earners in our country with a zero chance of escape then the caste systenm is for you. There is no way that there is enough affordable housing in this country.

Why should everyone own a house. As I understand it from many European friends, most Europeans who live in cities live in apartments, usually with less square footage per person than American apartments provide. We live in a manufactured house with more square footage than many older stick build houses in the 40's or 50's provided fo a family with several children. In America, manufactured housing is considered close to the slums. Maybe we need to change our minds as a country about how much space people need, and base the requirements on what each can afford. You or I do not have a right to more housing, better cars or twice yearly vacations if we cannot pay the entire cost of such things with out anyone elses money.

Where do you come up with your facts? Not everyone should have or can afford a house. Rents go up and down with supply and demand? I bought my house 7 years ago, $125,000 cash. I’ve been offered $225,000. I didn’t take it cause I like where I’m at. What you suggest smells like c*******m.

Perpetual poverty is just what govt housing has created. Generations live in the same subsidized housing. Ever gone on a ride along with the cops in section 8 housing? Might want to try it.

==============
in addition, Sanders and the socialist democrats wll implement C*****e C****e withing ten years that cost taxpayers $16.3 trillion. Free Housing for all for $2.5 trillion, and Medicare for all cost $40 trillion.

https://reason.com/2019/07/17/bernie-sanders-medicare-for-all-cost-40-trillion-
obamacare-single-payer/

These will indeed level the playing field all the money you've worked hard and saved for so many years are taken to provide for all those who did not earn, including i******s.

Where will they get these trillions of dollars to spend for their v**e buying schemes? Not their own money but ours is used for their assurance to sit at the WH.
In addition, our healthcare will be degraded so much as if none even exists. We worked very hard, earned our lives, but pay for all as demanded by SOCIALIST- DEMOCRATS wanting to extort our money to BUY V**ES of these handouts
of about 46 million of them. Therefore they win the e******n.

I did not say that every one should own a house I also metioned rentals. The idea is that there needs to be affordable housing for the workers of this country. I do like your thoughts on how much space we need and base the requirments on what each can afford. It is pretty much the idea that I am trying to get across.

Probably not. Problem with a lot of subsidized housing is the dwelling is not theirs so the dwellers don’t care how they treat it. I’d like to see more affordable housing, rents, etc. myself. But I believe supply and demand will be the solution. I’m a big believer in hand up not hand out.

I was not speaking of subsidized housing just affordable housing. I know it can be done. as far as renters go I am very familiar with the way some behave.

But are you willing to have the government force contractors to build housing they don't want to build and sell at a price they don't want to sell at? That seems much like totalitarianism to me. I believe the housing problem, while real, is way overblown. Guess where the biggest problems are? The larger liberal run enclaves. These clowns like Sanders (multimillionaire) won't be having the affordable (poor) dwellings and dwellers any where near their residence. You know Tom I think you have a really good heart that sometimes over rules the obvious.
Well it's off to S.D.. Gonna see Deadwood, Mt. Rushmore, the buffalo roundup, and get in a little trout fishing. Have a good week.
