Mike Portnoy was the drummer and one of the main songwriters for the band Dream Theater...my favorite band if I had one. Mike works with everyone who's good...and I mean GOOD.
In 2005 I went to see Dream Theater during their 20th Anniversary Tour. Mike left because touring became too difficult at some point and Dream Theater hired another drummer who's abou8t as great as Mike...and Mike is as good as they get...trust me.
