“Anti-Trumpers agree: The president’s trade battle with China is hurting our economy and, in particular, America’s farmers”—but that narrative simply isn’t supported by the facts, Liz Peek writes in The Hill. “The Department of Agriculture recently forecast that net farm income will rise nearly 5 percent this year, to $88 billion . . . Farmers suffered a severe drop in total revenues during the Obama years, collapsing from $484 billion in 2013 to $412 billion in 2016.”

Where are the links? If you are going to report 'news' give us the links so we can read the articles--specifically where they are getting their statistics.

It is my understanding that China has actually created new islands and claimed the surrounding see as theirs. As I understand it, they have done much more than expand existing islands.

So what is it you are saying, that farm and ranch product sales disappearing is f**e news?

So what if net farm revenues increased as a result of tens of billions of dollars in subsidies, they are not helping small farmers.

Large growers have been trying to strangle out the small farmer for decades. Small farmers suffer EVERY year due to hug corps buying out land and flooding the market to drive the costs down. This is nothing new. My family have been small time farmers as long as I remember. None are rich.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is going to be a problem for Americas farmers for a couple of years. It won't be because of trade or President Trump but because of all of the flooding the farmers had in the past year or so. The flooding wiped out a ton of livestock especially pigs which China depends on US pork and they, Chinese, are while heavily dependent on pork are having a problem with diseases in their swine.

The water also wiped out already planted crops and delayed planting of future crops. So don't be surprised to hear the doom and gloom of the Presidents trade deals on farmers who live on the edge in good years. Mike

If you ever paid attention to what is REALLY going on in this Country and got your head out of CNN and MSNBC you would know that a great many farmers got flooded out in the spring. Farmers live on a razors edge even in good years. This isn't a good year and the President wants the money to try to help them keep their heads above water, so to speak. Mike

Are the big corps hiring the small farmers to continue working the land or driving them away? Serious question as I don't know. Mike

It's your thread and your argument. Why am I suppose to provide the proof for it?
