...Which party was in power, if they acted for the benefit of all Americans, but we know they don't ( neither party ). They act for the benefit of their donors, themselves, and/or their v****g base, and try to make everyone else think it's good for them as well ( we're doing this for your own good, since you're too stupid to do it yourself ).

...if elected officials made a little money on the side, if they didn't do it at the expense of those they've sworn to serve. Pork barrel spending isn't just about rewarding donors, it's also about improving the market position of companies officials have invested in, OR, directing lucrative Gov. contracts towards the same ( which actually serves both purposes).

...if the Congress had more recesses than 1st Graders, if they actually accomplished something meaningful during their short work periods. They spend more time ( our time ) blocking each others bills, making campaign speeches to an empty chamber for CSPAN, fundraising for their own campaigns and their party's coffers, and maneuvering for the next e******n cycle. Come to think of it, with all that AND frequent recesses, it's no wonder they don't have time to do the business of the people.

....about increasing defense spending every year, if DOD would finish an audit, institute the recommendations made by their own IG to reduce waste and graft, and stopped the ponzi scheme between the Defense budget and the contingency fund. No one, in or outside DOD, can explain exactly where all our money is going or has gone. Of course, the 2nd complaint listed above explains why the Congressional oversight committees don't force the issue.....................it'd be embarrassing to be outed as part of the problem.

...about the dog whistle issues such as a******n and gun control, just to name two out of dozens, which obscure other serious issues, allowing rampant waste, fraud and abuse, if we gave a little time to those other issues. I think we'd be hard pressed to find a public official that isn't benefiting in some manner from all that. It'd be equally difficult to find enough Americans paying attention to these issues, and even more difficult to find enough of them to put a stop to it.

While we're arguing with each other over the issues we're manipulated into arguing about, the PTB are robbing us blind while raping us.

The difference between the two parties. The Republicans get dropped off from their limousines at the front door and the Democrats get dropped from theirs at the back door. They then go in to the capital, glad hand each other, plan to meet later for dinner or drinks on our dime, then proceed outside to the reporters and let the games begin.

I wouldn't care either about which party but both have shown they have no intention of putting us first.

A******n isn't a 'dog whistle' issue. If we as a society give more protection to animals, care more about puppies and kittens than unborn children, can't find a vet to abort an accidental breeding, yet cheer legislation that makes it easy to k**l the unborn with impunity and for convenience, then that speaks volumes about how depraved our society has become.

Thank you, Rose. I was trying to figure out how to respond to that statement in a civil manner, you did it for me

The scary part is we can't v**e our way out of this, because we need these very same people who would ens***e us to act on our behalf and that's not going to happen!

What I meant by that is, when the subject is mentioned, folks put their dukes up and commence to fighting. That statement was neither for nor against a******n.

Politicians use our emotions against us, by getting us riled up about stuff. Unfortunately, your ( and others ) reaction here proves the point. Everyone has at least one issue they're intensely passionate about, and politicians know that; gun control, a******n, Federal overreach, excessive taxation, i*****l i*********n, you name it. Perhaps I should have said "waving a red cape", but then someone would have objected to being referred to as a bull.

The difference is a lot of us view a******n in a far different light than the other issues you've mentioned so its not the same at all. I didn't see it as you making a statement for or against.
