I am 75 years old. I went to NYU in the 60s. It was always one of the most radical campuses and Deborah Messing is an alumnus. Hostility to conservatives was the stock-in-trade. As William F. Buckley used to say, liberals felt it was impossible to be both intelligent and conservative.

Same here. Obama was my President. Didn't like his policies, but respected that he was President and the Commander in Chief of our military.

Since this is the first story I've ever heard of a Trump supporter attacking someone for their politics, I'd say that is evidence that Trump supporters, even extreme ones, are far more stable than the left wing. How many stories have been on the news of Trump supporters getting beaten up by left wing strangers for no reason other than wearing a MAGA hat or having a pro-Trump bumper sticker? And in this case you have stated that there were heated words said between the two of them on multiple occasions. The attacker may have had no justification and been totally out of line. But the attackee was no innocent bystander whose only crime was wearing some symbol the attacker didn't like.
