No, it's because the daily slaughter is so ho hum, it isn't considered news. In my State Capitol, it's considered news when there ISN'T a daily murder.

If they were black cops k*****g black citizens you would hear about it. If it were white cops k*****g black citizens then you would really hear about it in spades.

Ted Cruz commented on Chicago’s shooting rate and used it as an example of how gun control doesn’t work. Mayor Lightfoot came back with how it was Republicans fault Chicago had such a bad problem with shootings because many of the guns recovered from Chicago’s shootings were stolen from neighboring states which are mostly republican so therefore Cruz should be quiet. I find it very difficult to find the limits of the distance liberal politicians are willing to reach to come up with excuses that maybe their policies are not optimal.
