Law enforcement is lazy. We don't need new gun laws targeted at law abiding citizens. We need laws already on the books enforced.

I have seen this phenomenon myself on other issues from various law enforcement. I have had the boating police hassle me on minor crap when I boat. I was not bothering anyone. At other times I see blatant and dangerous behavior on the lake and nobody is around. I have also been cited with my car on an inspection sticker which was not really out of date, it had different dates on it due to a bureaucratic issue, while the local police were unable to catch the vandals who smashed the back window of my wife's car with a pumpkin, and when another one of my cars was broken into, once again they couldn't do a thing.

Providing false information on Federal Form 4473 is a FEDERAL CRIME!

Knowingly t***sferring a firearm to a prohibited person is a FEDERAL CRIME!

Nothing is going to change until the US DOJ decides to ENFORCE FEDERAL LAW.

Enforcing existing laws costs MONEY, passing new laws costs nothing.

Which do you think we will get?

The difficulty with these prosecutions is that the prosecutor needs to prove that the individual selling the gun KNOWINGLY t***sferred the firearm to a prohibited person. A simple denial of that knowledge clears the seller unless it can be proven otherwise. This is why universal background checks are needed, them anyone t***sferring or selling a gun without the check could be held accountable. Let’s say it is done by the local police or a licensed dealer. If I want to sell a gun to my neighbor I have no way to access the database and must rely on their word that they are not prohibited. If we had to go to the Police station to have a check run it would eliminate the problem.

You are wrong, all that a prosecutor has to do is to prove that the weapon was purchased for someone other than the person who signed federal form 4473.

You obviously did not read the article I posted or you do not believe it. The problem is not with private sales of guns. The problem is with the non enforcement of straw buyer laws. PERIOD !

Not at all, it is completely legal for someone to sell a gun they bought to another person used. If you fill out the 4473 and buy a gun and decide you don’t like it you can sell it to me with no form or background check. There is no time limit or even a requirement that you use the gun. While it is illegal to do with the intention of passing it to someone else it is damn difficult if not impossible to prove.

When someone is convicted of making 24 straw purchases, and receives probation, that is the problem!

The tools are there, still unused. That guy could have gotten several hundred years for his crimes.

Impossible when you never try.
