I've always thought building where there are landslides is on the nutty side.
Building by the ocean, with government flood insurance because they can, is wrong.

at some point, they should refuse coverage if your property is going to be blown away or flooded every couple of years it's stupid for insurance companies to continue coverage and it stupid for the government to be hit with emergency funds every time mother nature has a fit in areas prone to damage

Agree, all these tree huggers refuse to even let the forestry service do undergrowth controlled burns! The fires in Calif have been proven to be powerline arcing. They inspected the lines but failed to follow up and cut back the limbs etc.
From a biblical point of view, God in psalms 104 set the boundaries of the water at the forming of the world! Also in Genesis God made a promise to Noah and all of mankind by saying there would always be cool and hot and planting and harvesting as long as the earth remains! Another thing to consider is God controls everything on earth. The bible talks about four angels who God controls that are at the four corners of the earth. God uses the angels to govern nature and the winds so he could, if he wanted to...cause storms, earthquakes or wh**ever as a form of punishment or simply to bring the early rain as a blessing to farmers and the latter rain to cause production to be great....or withhold that latter rain. Any question one has can find the answer in his holy word!

A bit off subject but the same country... Read the last five paragraphs. Some of u maybe remember the news about g bush sending his daughter to Chaco south America under some false guise..started me thinking about the real trip was to buy up land over the largest aquifer and maybe the largest gas deposits in the world. Buffet and other rich people in on it. I wondered how they found the deposits...blah blah so I knew from research they'd also built a US air force base there! Turns out they are all over south America!
Who paid for the research on what's underground... So...I looked up air bases, south america..?Here the interesting stuff I found...its not much but interesting...

T. Boone Pickens did the same thing.
He decided oil won't get it, so he bought an aquifer in Amarillo.
I've got a feeling when the water goes, we'll be paying him a huge price.
In my home town, the people aren't planting.
I went to see my dad's farm.
Nothing planted.
I told my brother that dad be spinning in his grave.
Why are there no crops anywhere?
His answer, no water.

Good point...I wonder if a lot of the storms in the corn and soy belt are because of so much water and chemicals evaporating into the atmo?
