One would think that a site called 'American Thinker' would back up this claim: " One may believe that those in charge of public education are qualified to administer the task of educating America's youth. One may believe they have the best interests of society at heart. And one may believe they are doing the best they could do, given the conditions under which they have to work. Abundant evidence, however, points to the conclusion that none of those beliefs is valid."

But, alas, no such luck. Not even links. Guess we'll just have to take their word for it. Sigh.
American Thinker, indeed.

Don’t take anyone’s word for it links or no links. These days you can find a link to support just about anything you want. My mother worked in the school system and I’ve known more than a few teachers. Many teachers and administrators - too many - just put time in with no heart for the job. They don’t do their best just like so many other workers out there who don’t. These days how many people really pay attention to whats going on? Not very many.

Public education started to go downhill when they removed the Holy Bible from the books that they taught from and started to go to those secular books. Up until that point they were being taught by the Lord and they received the best education in the world then after that not so much.

Right....at least I can point to some statistics to back up my point. Not like you, who posts only by 'feeling ' that you are correct.

My experience is different. I went to public school and admired my teachers. Their goal was for me to be able to edumacate myself....and they succeeded. I'm not a stickler for links usually, but an assertion like 'the demise of public education ' should at least have some back up.

I was also fortunate to have good teachers. But I grew up in the 60s.

I too would like to see something more to back up the opinion even though I share the opinion.

Not a single verifiable fact or source, essentially just the usual Right wing whine favoring liberals. Give some proof or at least a point of reference. You guys seem to accept these unsubstantiated accusations, conforming to your propaganda, with ease and without thought.

Which is not say that our educational system does not need a great amount of work to change, government support, and a restructuring of the Dept. of Education, starting with the no-nothing Betsy DeVos and her cockeyed shenanigans.
Not a single verifiable fact or source, essentiall... (show quote)

The facts are out there for everyone to see daily. Just watch reporters on the street asking university students questions that we older generation learned in school. How many justices are on the Supreme Court? What is the Bill of Rights? How many Senators are there? What is the E*******l College and what does it do? What are the terms for Congressmen, Senators and the President? These kids know nothing. How can they make informed decisions when they are totally ignorant how the government of our Republic is supposed to work? They learn that open borders are good and socialism is even better. Where did they learn these things? The schools are now an extension of the Democrat Party and the kids are only taught to love leftest ideas and h**e the country they were born in. That is the sad t***h. The left owns the entire education system and brain washes our kids. Crap like the Department of Education are the problem. The Constitution makes no provisions for the Federal Government to stick it's nose into the education of our children. Everything, EVERYTHING, the Feds are involved in is political and education should be politics free. The left already own the future because they have indoctrinated all our kids to be good socialist comrades.

Oh, and now comes the answers from the left. Why don't the right take charge of education if it's so bad. Because the left owns the teacher's unions and you have to belong to the union to teach. That's why we can't take back education.

Sorry, but this is a real hot button for me.

Followed by your usual brainwashed ‘liberals are the thinkers’ schtick.

This is an easy game. Try something original.

I agree, Terry. At this point those of us over 55 who even just went K - 12 probably have a better education than kids coming out of college these days...
