This is the problem with healthcare--it is an item of infinite demand--no matter how high the cost is you will always demand the product. This is why a single-payer system is the only solution.

Yeah, so the government can decide who lives and dies.

You can thank your hero Obama for this. Maybe you don’t remember “$2,500.00 savings, you can keep your doctor”. That was the day we put our two week old tv back in the box it came in, where it still is. We have been married 27 years & have only had 2 TVs.

You can also thank him for the increased violence with his “fundamentally change America”.

We are privileged white people. We had the privilege of growing up poor, wearing hand me down clothes, working in the fields from the time we 6 years old, eating wh**ever was put before us, knowing that was all that was available.

We both worked our ways through college, no loans, no time to get distracted by bulls**t protests. I had the privilege of getting drafted. My wife had the privilege of developing Systemic Lupus at 18, has dealt with it 50 years, working all the time. We are still working.

Our medical bills were 38% of our net income last year.

If you want everything free, just tear up your birth certificate, and claim "refugee status"

You might want to wake up Petey. Canada HAS a single payer system. Canadians come to America to get their operations and medical procedures done. Do you live under a rock..?? The massive i*****l i*********n going on has produced a strain on the California Medicare system that California NEEDS the Feds to step in and help finance. But yet, California doesn't want to be part of America anymore. More liberal l*****t moonbat double-speak..??

And my wife and I have just been subjected to the terrible cost of medical care. She just had hip replacement surgery.... $33,000... Sure insurance pays 80%, but that still leaves us with about $9,000 to pay. We are working class stiffs, with one paycheck, no savings, and it is going to crush us for at least 5 years. Not a good view of the future at 63 yrs old.

No. We never got anything for free, know there is no free lunch. We will keep on keeping on, just like we were raised to do. We have our religion, our garden, & our protection. We have our f**g flying & not likely to welcome anyone screaming & cussing us in our front yard or trying to tear up anything.

We have every intention of being around for a long time just to make liberal/l*****ts upset in our small way.

Only someone as removed from reality as you could suggest this as a solution. Single payer will make things ten times worse.

(Welcome to the real word) this should be the entry-level to all the younger generation who feel their ENTITLED to everything without working for it. I feel for you and your situation I'm 68 and still working can't afford to retire my new baby alway needs something now it's all the windows need to be replaced and the gutters. Then I want a privacy fence so I don't have to look or be aware that my neighbor really exists. As long as I work I have medicare and my work insurance and no out of pocket cost. But when you have a kidney dr a cardiologist dr a vascular dr if I quite I won't be able to take a deep breath for the cost for medical or eat my patients tell me dont retire you'll regret it and I'm afraid they may be right

You bet. People shouldn't have to pay for the things they get. Everything should be free, paid for by the stupid tax payers. Seeing only 50% of the country pay taxes, it sort of makes us taxpayers feel like maybe we should have some say in how much we are taxed and where that money goes. You l*****ts feel that somehow you have the right to put your hand in my pocket and give what I have earned to some deadbeat or i*****l a***n. We will continue to fight you.

This elderly couple were eligible for Medicare and Washington State also has Medicare Advantage programs available, used together their medical bills would possibly have been quite low or if eligible they could have turned to mediaid programs. If his wife was terminal, Medicare Advantage would have paid for Hospice Care. Perhaps they just were ignorant of those facts & needed help?

Even if they still owed high medical bills, many doctors and hospitals will negotiate their owed bills! There is always bankruptcy available if all else fails.

Somehow I don't think this was just a case of "high medical bills", probably just didn't want to go on suffering or seeing his mate suffer but wanted to have someone or something else to blame it on! The press just ate it up and used it for their own agenda!

The elite will never go for that, they are always in demand for special privilege, they don't belong on the same level as the common man, that's how it's always been since we've become "civilized".
