If not for deforestation, we would not have the current rise in CO2 levels.
50 years ago my generation didn't have computer programs, we did have common sense,
we tried to warn the world about this; our government promised to address this issue:
They did, they addressed it to their waste bin.
NOW they tell us that we can mitigate the damage already done by planting a trillion new trees.
Well I just agreed with that post..
"Trees absorb carbon dioxide and potentially harmful gasses, such as sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, from the air and release oxygen. One large tree can supply a day's supply of oxygen for four people."
My opinion, for what it's worth is that the BUG Trees need to come down, they usually intensify fires.. and planting trees to replace the bug trees... as far as mitigating.. probably not.. but it'd be a start.. rebuilding the forest area where I used to live... But the Sierra club will not let folks cut down bug trees bc they are tryin to save said bettles...
