I can't verify the numbers, but I might be one of them. About 2 months ago I was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk. Broken wrist and just getting back to typing in the last couple of weeks. Still have two months of therapy scheduled, twice a week. And it is expensive. Still in pain all day and just getting back the use of my fingers for typing. Still can't lift my beer mug.

I saw the car stopped right at the edge of the cross walk. He was looking to his left, trying to quickly make a right turn. He was not looking right at all and that is where I was coming from. I could see the on coming traffic and knew I could walk right past him before the traffic was clear enough for him to make his turn. As I got dead center of his car, his car suddenly started creeping forward, like he took his foot off of his brake. It hit me lightly and I pounded on his hood. Then the i***t jammed his feet forward, hitting gas and brake at the same time. Car lurched forward and threw me through the air about ten feet and I landed on my ass and right wrist. He jumped out of his car and immediately rushed over to see if I was all right. Now, here is where this fits this thread. He already had his cell phone in his hand. Who hits someone and then looks to grab his phone before running out to check on the victim. Unless he already had it in his hand. "Hey, I'll call you back later. I just hit someone."

I'm not worried about the fanatic in a mass shooting. The odds are really rare compared to distracted drivers. And they k**l injure many more people and will still text and talk again while driving.

I just want to add something on to the above post. My broken wrist is still mostly non functional. I had to get a prescription for another issue and the i***ts gave me the usual container with one of those damn near impossible to open tops. Didn't realize it until I got home. Takes two hands to open. I'm standing there with my arm in a cast and sling and they still hand out these stupid pill bottles we can't always open. I just finally got it open. Had to use a pair of channel locks. Just stupid. They should be required by law to provide the type of top we want or can use and not assume we all need child proof bottles. I haven't had a kid in my house in over forty years.

Just wanted to get that off of my chest. Damn lids. Now maybe I can get rid of some of this pain.

Holy-you-know-what! Unreal. That equates to deer: a bigger k**ler of people than all the sharks, bears, and predators in the US. Deer–vehicle collisions lead to about 200 human deaths and $1.1 billion in property damage every year. Whodathunkit? And the most by far serious k**ler on the planet, the world's deadliest creature, bar none, is tiny, thought just mostly as a pest at barbecues for this country. Another big k**ler that puts gun crimes to shame is the Opioid epidemic. An average of 70,000 people per year, mostly younger folks, die from overdoses. The main culprit is f******l, a derivative of Opium that is coming across our southern border by the boatload.

We're not sending that message, just pointing out the huge amount of deaths due to other things that aren't natural deaths and people like you cry and whine about guns as you try to sabotage the Constitution. Guns are a right and can be miss used. Drugs and cell phones are a privilege and can be misused.

Ya see, he actually thinks that pharmaceutical companies are manufacturing lethal Opioids and doctors are prescribing them. T***h is that the use of prescription Opium based pain k**lers are fading. The pharmaceutical and heathcare industry is fazing them out. However, raw Opium, it's derivatives, such as Heroin, and the synthetic Opioid f******l are illicit street drugs that are smuggled in from south of the border. These are taking a much greater toll in lives than the legally prescribed pain k**lers. And the problem is getting worse.

It's a bloody shame that rumitoid can't seem to make a distinction between immigrants, legal or not, and illicit drug smugglers. And so, we are guilty of hating every Latino and Hispanic that hits our southern border.

risk to the public, than my AR does. Cell phones are also employed to commit rape, murder,
