Donald Trump addressed the nation on Monday in the wake of two deadly mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio over the weekend. He blamed violent video games and mental health for the shooting and called for "red f**g laws" as a measure of gun control. Under a red f**g law, potentially dangerous individuals can be reported by family or others, and local officials then determine whether there is cause to temporarily remove firearms the person may have. Cases where weapons were removed in Florida involved both risks to others or potential suicide cases.

Sen. Lindsey Graham said Monday he’s struck a bipartisan deal to write legislation that would encourage states to adopt “red f**g” laws allowing guns to be taken from potentially dangerous individuals, and he vowed action in the wake of this weekend’s shootings.

An estimated 88,000 people die every year from alcohol, and yet alcohol is legal in all 50 states. Over 324,000 babies are k**led in a******n each year, and yet a******ns are legal in all 50 states. Over 40,000 people each year die in car crashes, the majority of which are linked to alcohol, and yet automobiles are legal in all 50 states. In 2018, less than 15,000 people died from gun violence in America. Yet somehow, guns are the real problem. Go figure.

A well regulated m*****a, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Second Amendment to the US Constitution, ratified December 1791

The newly-proposed National Red F**g Gun Law is absolutely an infringement on the rights of the American people to “keep and bear arms”, it is nothing less than gun confiscation. And it is the Republican Party that is allowing this proposed bill to proceed towards being enshrined in law. If passed, the so-called Red F**g Gun Law is the beginning of the end of not only the Second Amendment, but of all the other amendments as well. Remember, if they can take just one away from you, they can take all of them away from you.

And just so you know, President Trump, who promised the millions of patriots who v**ed for him he would protect our gun rights, is not only in favor of it he’s also the one pushing for it, as you will see in the video below.

FROM THE WASHINGTON TIMES: Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said his legislation, which he has worked on with Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut Democrat, would offer grants to law enforcement to hire professionals to try to decide cases where guns should be taken from troubled individuals.

Mr. Graham said he talked to President Trump about the idea earlier Monday, and the president “seems very supportive.”

“Many of these shootings involved individuals who showed signs of violent behavior that are either ignored or not followed up. State Red F**g laws will provide the tools for law enforcement to do something about many of these situations before it’s too late,” said Mr. Graham, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Congressional Republicans, under pressure to respond to this weekend’s massacres, appear to be coalescing around legislation to help law enforcement to take guns from those who pose an imminent danger — a measure that, if signed into law, would be the most significant gun safety legislation enacted in 20 years.

Red f**g laws have been pioneered in some states such as Florida, scene of the 2018 Valentine’s Day school shooting in Parkland.

Under a red f**g law, potentially dangerous individuals can be reported by family or others, and local officials then determine whether there is cause to temporarily remove firearms the person may have. Cases where weapons were removed in Florida involved both risks to others or potential suicide cases.

Mr. Graham said he and Mr. Blumenthal will introduce national red f**g grant legislation “in the very near future.” Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, said there’s no need to wait.

She’s already written and introduced her own version, the Extreme Risk Protection Order Act,” that would create a grant program to encourage states to come up with red f**g laws. She said Mr. Graham could put her bill on the committee’s agenda.

“The Senate could v**e on that bill today,” she said.

She said that while 15 states and the District of Columbia have red f**g laws on the books, neither Texas nor Ohio — scenes of the weekend’s shootings — have one. But she said the Senate needs to go further than that. She called for Congress to renew the Assault Weapons Ban, a now-expired 1994 law that restricted the sale of some military-style semiautomatic rifles.

“It took the Dayton shooter less than 30 seconds to shoot 35 people, nine of whom died. This validates the theory that these weapons are designed to k**l as many people as possible, as quickly as possible,” she said.

I am for red f**g laws. A friend of mines sister was married to a whack job. She had kicked him out of the house when he came back and raped her and left with several firearms including an M-16. She told the police what had happened and they told her since she was his wife he had the right to rape her. She warned them and begged them to take his guns that he was going to k**l people and they would not listen. One week later he murdered 6 people outside a night spot in Klamath falls. His name DeWitt Henry--google him. I knew the victims too. One girl was 8 months pregnant.

A red f**g law would not have helped. The police didn’t listen. The fault is theirs not the law

And so it begins. The potential abuses are many and government intrusion will only get worse.

This statement is ambiguous and highly misleading. Let's put this in the proper perspective.

President Trump announced a call for a National ‘Red F**g’ law that will prohibit access to firearms to those judged as a "grave risk" to public safety, and those judged as a "grave risk" to public safety who are already in possession of firearms will have their guns confiscated. This law authorizes family members who recognize one of their own as a "grave risk" to petition for either prohibiting access or confiscating any firearm in the subjects possession.

There is some logic to this idea, but there is also the potential for many problems.

First, the logic. The key word is "judged". As it now stands, those judged as a "grave risk" are those who, following psychiatric evaluation, have been so judged by a court or commission, and the identity of these individuals are submitted to the NCIS background check database. This system ignores all other persons who pose a grave risk to society who have not undergone a psychiatric evaluation and have not been adjudicated as a risk by a court or commission. The identity of these, and there must be many, are not uploaded to the NCIS database.

Therefore, in allowing members of the disturbed individual's family--who by the way are most likely the first to know there is a problem--to petition the authorities to either prohibit the subject from accessing firearms or confiscating guns the subject may already have has the potential of going a long way in reducing gun crimes committed by disturbed individuals. However, this idea has a slippery slope built in.

Things could get out of hand. Not all families are loving and close, many are dysfunctional. And, as enforcement of all gun laws have proven dismal, enforcement of "red f**g" petitions could go south in a hurry.

It must be noted that President Trump discussed his proposal with NRA legal counsel and officers in an effort to insure that a Red F**g law would not infringe on the 2nd amendment rights of all US citizens. Apparently they agreed that it wouldn't as long as the law is clearly defined and strictly enforced. IOW, every case of a petition for prohibition or confiscation must be thoroughly investigated and the subject must be judged a "grave risk".

Let's be clear though, a red f**g law is about actively determining what human beings are a danger to society, not about what a firearm looks like or how many bullets it'll shoot.

Maybe it'll work, but I ain't holding my breath. Fortunately for me, my family is totally cool with guns and none of us are psychos. We were raised by gunslingers.

My advice. Build your own. If you’re in a state that allows it. Have built a couple AR 15’s. Can legally buy everything you need on the internet. No way to trace. Can’t steal em if they don’t know you have em.

Wow, holy-you-know-what, great case you provided against the state of our current gun laws. Open and shut case they are inadequate!

Florio, if you can do that how about a terrorist? You want to give them that chance to k**l Americans? You would somehow object to closing such a loophole considering that it gives our enemies within the means for mass murder? All this, perhaps, in the name of your supposed rights to bear arms? Screw them, I got the gun of my dreams to shot at...what? Slaughter hogs by the dozen? Get those dang flocks of pigeons?

Do you even hear what you are saying? Apparently not.

Nothing you say means anything to me. You’re a troll and a bomb thrower. LOL. terrorists don’t build guns. They build bombs. Did the Boston Marathon bombers use a gun? Building a guns not that easy. Have to do some machining and have the right tools. An AR15 is fun to shoot. At least for me. I don’t hunt. My weapon of choice for home protection is a 12 gauge shotgun. My concealed carry is either a .380 which I don’t like or a 9 mill Taurus. All my guns are locked in a six foot safe. So don’t get your depends in a wad. Little chance I’ll ever need one for protection but bad things happen during and after hurricanes. Nothing wrong with being prepared.

Did I say anything about STOPPING mass murders? That is impossible. The red f**g law is a bandaid on a headache, and though it may reduce mass shooting to some degree, it does not address the root cause of violence in general.

A band-aid is better than nothing. You attested there was nothing anyone could do about our epidemic gun violence but now that tune has changed. This is good. Maybe it will get you thinking about what is possible to help, break that spell of defensiveness about the Second Amendment. Need your good mind in this.

I never said there was nothing anyone can do about gun violence (which is only an epidemic in the minds of Hoplophobes). What I said was passing more gun control laws will not stop or even reduce gun violence. For ten years Clinton's so-called "Assault Weapons Ban" was in place. It had little or no effect in reducing gun crimes.

What I said was, until those with the juice, the mojo, and the cojones wake the fk up and go straight for the root causes of violence, the crimes will go on. The causes of violence is a human thing, they are not in a machine. The political morons who continue to believe the gun is the problem are doing a grave disservice to their fellow human beings. You look those fools straight in the eye and you won't see a soul. It's freakin' dark in there.

Too funny, really pathetic response. It was like the little child with jelly surrounding his mouth saying, "What jelly doughnuts, mommy?" Terrorists will not take advantage of your advice how to build and hide the construction of an assault rifle? Huh? Why the hell not? They do not just throw bombs or use suicide vests. Grow up or just admit you are possibly aiding and abetting terrorists.

What? You are hysterical! Please re-read your first two sentences for the absurdities. Your words: "I never said there was nothing anyone can do about gun violence (which is only an epidemic in the minds of Hoplophobes). What I said was passing more gun control laws will not stop or even reduce gun violence." Do you the absurdity? You claim you never said there was nothing we can do about gun violence, lol, but go on to say "...passing more gun control laws will not stop or even reduce gun violence." That seems to t***slate into "nothing we can do."
