Looking at what the Dayton shooter's ex girlfriend and other people who knew him says is important, each example of terrorist h**e oriented k*****gs has a pattern to be learned from. They all start to form a pattern to be studied as to where these people should have had intervention that can be applied as a model. They form a pattern of people that are not normal, they are typically unhinged. Many have histories of violence and anti social behaviors. As this is called domestic terrorism it is the same as terrorism like muslim or any other religious or h**e related violence.

If someone goes to the FBI with warnings about a muslim that is unhinged and making threats intelligence services are all over it. Everyone they communicate with is scrutinized, and everyone they associate with, especially if they are tied to known terrorist h**e groups. At this point the FBI's hands tend to be tied in terms of having to wait until someone they are looking at does something. Under scrutiny or not it isn't clear whether they can be prevented from going to a gun store and buying a gun and ammo, especially in states that have no wait period or vetting process.

Threats, reports of unhinged behavior, family and friends calling authorities and warning them about a person, these all need to be responded to in a far more proactive manner.

The problem has been that protecting even unhinged and violent people has been too prohibitive in terms of stepping in and making it harder for an unhinged person to act out threats. I said that the Dayton k**ler has lessons to be learned, and they are the same ones to be learned from other k*****gs regardless of the brand of hatred or ideology involved. Whether it's a left or right wing nut job, people are dead and serious proactive intervention is going to be called for.

The FBI has been relatively lax about opening up domestic terrorism investigations, partly because it is so politically charged. Whether you want to admit it or not white nationalist groups that have members involved in h**e crimes are seen as being very pro Trump. They see themselves as being bonded with Trump and the right, and they will have an attitude about being strongly rejected and denounced by Trump or the party. We're about to start calling white nationalist r****m tied to criminal domestic terrorism, and those associating and spewing the hatred and crap are going to be called part of a terrorist organization by association. The FBI is going to find out how deep this foes and how much a threat these people are.

I'm impressed! It took you five whole paragraphs to get around to mentioning President Trump, who is of course, as always, the target of your post.

I was impressed too! But for a different reason. He at least is blaming the person and not the gun.

You know, you're right!

Maybe he's just feeling a tad under the weather today.
