Your ignorance again on gun control is glaring: Alaska, Arizona (Arizona has no law requiring firearms to be registered), and Arkansas (Arkansas has no law requiring firearm owners to register their firearms, to name a few) have "no law restricting assault weapons." Another huge and unnecessary gap in gun control. You claim as is gun laws are adequate enough, that in fact we have too many. Get educated on how wrong you are. How can you be this uninformed?
"Put simply, a semi-automatic firearm is not an assault weapon. And, FYI, semi-auto firearms are enormously popular for hunting, sport shooting, competition, recreational shooting, and self defense."
That is absurd. Maybe for hunting schools of salmon heading up river, slaughtering the lot for profit. How many bullets, how big a magazine do you need to hunt for game? Is it that you never know when the flock or herd will turn on you and attack. Better to be prepared against a r*******n by nature?

Please do not insult my intelligence by accusing me of ignorance of gun laws, I've owned and shot guns since I was 7 years old, I am quite familiar with gun laws.
Regardless of any state law requiring gun registration, it is still unlawful for a civilian to obtain, possess, own, or shoot an NFA designated firearm--such as a fully automatic military assault weapon. Only a civilian with a valid Class 3 FFL can legally purchase, own and shoot a full auto firearm.
When hunting with an AR15 or any other semi-auto rifle, it is common practice to load it with a 5 or 10 round magazine. There are options, ya know, on mag capacities that can be installed in these guns. It isn't like God commanded us to load the guns with high cap mags.
World class shooting competitions include the service and match rifle categories, these are shot with semi-auto rifles and most often no more than 10 rounds are loaded at a time.
You are confusing gun registration with issuance of concealed carry permits. The District of Columbia and Hawaii are the only two jurisdictions that require registration of ALL firearms.
Only New York requires registration of just handguns.
California and Maryland require new residents to report, not register, their firearms.
California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York require registration of pre-AWB semi-autos and 50 caliber rifles.
In all other states, registration of firearms is not required.
I suggest you go here to educate yourself on
State-by-State Concealed Carry Permit Laws. You might be surprised that Vermont (Bernie Sanders bailiwick) is the only state that allows Constitutional Carry and does not issue CCW permits--which means a gun owner can carry an unregistered firearm openly or concealed. In the state in which I live, open carry is legal without a permit.
I also suggest you get up to speed on
Gun Laws by State. I'm trying to spare you the embarrassment of being so uninformed and emotional.
For your edification, the photo below shows a 5 round magazine for an AR15. Due to the depth of the mag well on the gun, the magazine is made long enough for it to be installed and removed. It has a plug beneath the spring and follower that allows only 5 rounds to be loaded in the mag. This mag is commonly used for hunting and competitions.
