Genesis chapter 22

Verse 1 and 2

Something is not logical. We know God appeals to intellect so why would God ask Abraham to kill the son He would make nation? He is testing Abraham;s faith, If Abraham kills his son,he knows God is going to fulfil His word. As a disciple of Christ, you find yourself on the storm tossed seas of life.,The winds will be blowing, the seas billowing, the boat tossing and turning. Yet it will seem like Christ is asleep. In your panic, you will Jesus to fix your problems because only He can. Your faith is being tested. If Christ is on the boat, it will not sink.

Verse 3 - 5

Although put to the test, Abraham has faith in God, and does everything he is told. He tells the servants him and Isaac will return

Verse 6 - 8

Isaac is a small boy at this time. He sees everything for the sacrifice, but the sacrifice. He asks his father where is the sacrifice and is told that God will provide the sacrifice,

Verse 9 and 10

Abraham builds the altar, binds and prepares to sacrifice his son. He knew God promised that his offspring would become a great nation.

Verse 11 - 14

Abraham has passed the test. God not only wants us to have faith in Him. He wants to have faith in us. An angel stops Abraham from sacrificing his son. Then Abram sees a ram trapped in a bush and sacrifices it.

Verse 15 - 19

An angel repeats the promise to bless and multiply Abraham’s seed. Imagine counting the individual grains in a handful of sand. Imagine counting the sand on a beach. Abraham’s children include Russians, Arabs, West Europeans, and all Christian nations and Muslims.

Verse 20 - 24

Milcah was Abraham’s sister in law. She married his brother Nahor. Isaac would marry Rebekah
