Why is much of the (Red) South in such bad shape

Granted Baltimore has some serious problems (that Jared Kushner personally could alleviate by not being a slumlord). Yet not any more, and maybe less, than the following list shows of fifteen out of sixteen Red states:
-The least educated states are, from 46th to 50th: Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, West Virginia and Mississippi.

-Highest poverty rates (46th to 50th): Kentucky, West Virginia, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi.

-Most dangerous (46th to 50th): Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, New Mexico.

-Highest share of people on food stamps in 2017 (46th to 50th): Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, West Virginia, New Mexico. (Does the GOP actually favor socialism?)

Most dependent on federal aid — i.e., “socialism” (46th to 50th): Kentucky, Arizona, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi. (Again, Does the GOP actually favor socialism?)

Most polluted (46th to 50th): Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana.

Most people lacking health insurance (46th to 50th): Florida, Georgia, Alaska, Oklahoma, Texas.

If Trump were honest, he would mention the extremely sad and same condition of these states for decades now. But they are controlled by Republicans. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky has been in the Senate since 1984 — what’s he done? Besides watering down and flat-out blocking efforts to safeguard our e*******l process, I mean. Turning a blind eye to Russian attacks on our democracy — which has kept him busy since the Obama era — is nothing less than dereliction of duty, and although he bristles at his new nickname, “Moscow Mitch,” I say if the boot fits, comrade, wear it.

You get the idea. When Trump, who wants those critical of America to leave, criticized it himself in his dark, creepy “American carnage” inaugural address (no inspirational “shining city on a hill” or “malice towards none” for him), he could have been talking about these ravaged, failing, mostly red states just as much as Baltimore’s 7th congressional district. But he’ll never do that, of course.

I’m from Memphis. It’s a beautiful and clean city. It does have crime in certain areas.

Fix your own state first, then complain about others. In other words, clean up your own yard before you look over my fence, and demand that I clean up mine.

They are the lowest states on those topics, meaning having the highest incidence of poverty, crime, dependence on the Federal government, and so forth of all fifty states.

Did I say we are a democracy in this piece? What a strange diversion.

Having read your post and the thread that followed, I would like to comment. This has nothing to do with President Trump. This falls in the laps of Congress, blue and red. They make the laws and free the money. The President signs off or vetoes. Congress not the President are the ones that have created this situation. It pretty much started with FDR and his New Deal. Congress has deprived the citizens that they were elected to serve with not only their needs and a means for a better life, but also their right for the pursuit of happiness. I have traveled and work all over the South and North, met a lot of good people. Brown, Black and White. Been all over the world have seen different cultures and made friends with them. The one thing that I have came to realize, we are all the same. We all just want a better future for our children. As is usual, you posted another rant, with no solutions. If your not part of the solution, then your are part of the problem.

"Having read your post and the thread that followed, I would like to comment. This has nothing to do with President Trump. This falls in the laps of Congress, blue and red." This is a prototype of your ignorance and how you continually get things wrong. Very poor reading comprehension sk**ls; that is not an insult but a mere observation from your many posts. Hopefully, it will help you to better observe the written word. NO ONE, including me, said the failure of these states had anything to do with Trump. You again and as usual missed the whole point. Purposely or not, it is your habit.

Let me try to make things as clear as can be for you to catch the drift or crux: Trump maligned (or accurately described) Baltimore, represented by a Democrat for many years. Mitch McConnell served more years in Congress whose entire state is far worse of than Baltimore for decades. Trump would never mention that ugly and stark reality. This was the main point.

"n, Black and White. Been all over the world have seen different cultures and made friends with them. The one thing that I have came to realize, we are all the same. I like this and mostly agree. A point to understand: if you don't know the problem, you can't solve the problem. Simple.

That stupid adage, pardon my bluntness, "If your not part of the solution, then your are part of the problem," is just plain wrong. (And it is you're, not "your" as you said.) Many, many people get caught up in bureaucratic nonsense, fighting just to survive or have a measure of justice. You appear clueless to the enormity of the task.

All that money we send to DC. gets dispersed through a lot of hands with sticky fingers. The taxpayers are getting robbed left and right.
