I say today that the kid in the Red cap lost his court case with the Washington Post. A very good day for American's right of free speech and for the Media to write there stories as it was reported to them.
The Red caps lose again

No the Washington Post reported what they were told and corrected there story when new facts came out.
Good day for unbiased news and a bad day for money hungry Red Cap's

Good to hear, that sneering little snot deserved to have the smirk slapped off his face. I hope he is stuck with a fat lawyer bill.

The judge said the reason he ruled that way was because WaPo didn't identify him as they didn't include his name in their initial story therefore it was free speech because it was anonymous. But didn't them plastering the kids picture also identify him? In fact didn't it identify him MORE than his name would as more than one person could have the same name, but unless two people were identical twins, more than one person couldn't have the same face?

So the clincher that WaPo didn't identify him was false.

The judge could not rule differently. Had he ruled in favor of Sandmann, then it would have been appealed and most probably overturned and this would have involved a protected people, Native Americans. The situation would have gone on for years. As it is, attention was brought forward that the media DOES NOT ensure their leads are t***hful and they will print anything as long as the headlines will sell more papers. It also made it clear that the media is biased. So, yes the press can print anything and under that right tabloids continue to peddle trash about celebrities and events unchecked. Years ago there was integrity in the news reports....not anymore.

What retraction? If so, I can't find it. In fact in the lawsuit the fact that they NEVER retracted the story even after knowing it was false was included as the prominent reason for the suit. If they HAD retracted their story, THAT would be the reason to throw out the suit.

WaPo should have made a retraction and done so as front page news just as the original false story ran.

An event like this gives the left an opportunity to come out of the woodwork and put their spin on it. They have to come up with something in this day of downsides for them.

Freedom of speech upheld.

Guarantee your statements or clothing choices will be POPULAR or shielded from other outspoken critics?

If that's the way you see it, Jim, I guess we'll just have to get used to it, not that we already haven't.

That's good to bad that they don't report the news like Walter C did for many years just state the news and not put a spin on it like so many News sites do that is why I go to BBC first before reading any other news as they are " Fair and Balanced"

You must not be old enough to remember old Walter. He was not viewed as balanced as some like to make him out to be, probably because of the extreme bias that we see today.
