Was Thomas Jefferson the father of Sally Hemings' children? Not likely.

Jefferson was opposed to two things that virtually preclude even the possibility of such a thing:

1 - He regarded the black race as intellectually inferrior and race mixing as damaging to society, and
2 - he wanted to free all s***es and return them to Africa.

http://www.let.rug.nl/usa/presidents/thomas-jefferson/jefferson-on-s***ery.php

Why would Jefferson have taken a special interest in Sally Heming?

She was his wife's half sister, the daughter of his father-in-law. There is a strong possibility that her children were from his younger brother Randolph, who frequently partied with the s***es or from his nephews who were also on very familiar terms with the s***es.

How did the story get started? No one is certain but it was promoted by a journalist named James Callender. He was angry with Thomas Jefferson for being turned down for the position of Richmond Postmaster.

NOTE: Like the Left is inclined, devoid of personal honor, it is unimaginable to them that anyone can value personal honor. As a result, they discount personal integrity as a motivating influence in the lives of anyone. The destruction of the Founders is an apparent active campaign of the modern Left. As a result, Jefferson has been subjected to the most scurrilous accusations. His actual standards and goals in life are ignored in favor the more destructive characterizations based on the most thoroughly questionable sources.

Thomas Jefferson was a man of his times but he was also a man of honor. Before besmirching his name, it would be advisable to actually know something of the man.

I still love the comment from JFK. He had assembled a large gathering of very intellectual people in the white house. He made some comment that this was the largest gathering of intelligence in the white house since Thomas Jefferson dined alone. Something like that.

Thomas Jefferson was a great man who should always be referred in America. That some in America now want to put him down and remove him from our noble history is a crime in of itself. They need to hold down their collective heads in shame. Their isn't a man alive who is worthy to shine his shoes, especially our last few presidents. Maybe Reagan could sit and talk with him, or better listen to him. And probably none other in a hundred years of questionable presidents, including Kennedy. Well, at least he knew it.

As far as I'm concerned, Thomas Jefferson was one of, if not the, greatest men in American history and one of our most important founders.

Wh**ever revisionist bulls**t the America hating lefties want to spew about him is irrelevant, because theirs is a dogma based on deception and lies geared towards bringing America down.

DNA doesn't lie, so try again. I'm not saying Tom shouldn't be honored for his role in the founding of our Nation because he most certainly should be, but trying to whitewash his life is ridiculous. There has been only one human, in the entire history of our species, that has not committed a crime, a sin or a faux pa, and that was Jesus Christ.

You should know something too, may I suggest visiting Monticello, it's all their in black and white in the lineage and historical facts right on the walls, encasements, and films.

Jefferson was a great man, a man of honor and principle who fell in love after the death of his wife.

Your two statements:

1 - He regarded the black race as intellectually inferrior and race mixing as damaging to society, and
2 - he wanted to free all s***es and return them to Africa.

I consider untrue, if a sliver is true it denotes to the fact of the man being a product of his time. Let us not forget he was not a god but a man, yet for me, I still consider him the best president we've ever had, who did the most for our country.

Again, his were different times and the sensibilities not only of America, but the rest of the western world were still evolving.

You cannot equate how people lived back then with the sensibilities of today.

That's why this whole substitution of identity politics/social justice crap for American History and the tearing down of our monuments is so obvious a ploy to abet the erasure of U.S. history by the left.

People who can't accept t***hs, as the right does, always consider them to be lies, it is their coping mechanism, however flawed that is. T***h does not bring anyone down.

Now this...

"Again, his were different times and the sensibilities not only of America, but the rest of the western world were still evolving.

Is something I can agree with along with the admiration of Jefferson.

Thanks for finding the exact quote. He was a great man and should always be remembered as such and his life celebrated whenever and wherever possible.

Jefferson paternal DNA was present in numerous male relatives at that time including some who were known to socialize with Hemings. DNA may not lie but its constructs do. There is not one shred of actual proof to support the accusations... and plenty of Jefferson's own known sentiments to justify doubt.
