Deserving or not, The Legislative Reorganization Act of 1970 Section 132 of the act, Congress agreed that “unless otherwise provided by the Congress, the two Houses shall adjourn sine die not later than July 31 of each year,” or in an odd-numbered year, “by concurrent resolution adopted in each House by roll call v**e, for the adjournment of the two Houses from that Friday in August which occurs at least thirty days before the first Monday in September (Labor Day) of such year to the second day after Labor Day.”

Only exception is in time of DECLARED war, so peacekeeping or advisory conflicts do not apply. Of course, having a Act that says they can does not mean they should.

Congress spends more time in recess than they do on the clock...............and get paid the same. The problem here is, we have allowed our employees to; set their own hours; set their own pay and benefits; set their own work schedule; set their own job descriptions and responsibilities; discipline themselves - or not..................and tell us what to do or not do.

What fortune 500 company would still be in businesses a year after adopting the above scenario?

Here's a thought; Congress only gets paid for time on the clock........................and their salaries/benefits are cut to pay for deficits ( which includes their ridiculous retirement ).

In all fairness, I must say what I have already said repeatedly... These douche bags did not elect and reelect themselves at a rate of 97% in the Senate and about 90% in the House. For those of you who yell "TERM LIMITS!" bear in mind we already have them. They are called e******ns.
