The Hell of Working at Trump’s New Favorite Network

Ernest Champell realized there was something unusual about One America News Network during his first day on the job as a writer, when the young staffer assigned to show him the ropes announced matter-of-factly, “Yeah, we like Russia here.”

Under Herring’s direction the network embraced Trumpism enthusiastically starting in 2016, and in recent months the once-obscure cable news channel has been basking in a surge of attention from Donald Trump.

the time-honored manner of Edward R. Murrow or Walter Cronkite. But there’s a twist: The segments, the interviews, the words the anchors are speaking and even the crawl at the bottom of the screen are a slurry of f**e news mixed with genuine reporting; internet conspiracy theories blended with far-right rhetoric and drizzled with undiluted Kremlin propaganda.

If you don’t live in a world where Donald Trump’s inauguration drew record crowds, Roy Moore won the Alabama special e******n in a landslide, and Hillary Clinton has her political enemies assassinated, viewing OANN for a couple of hours is a surreal experience that inspires the same vague, uneasy dread you get from a David Lynch movie.

Working there is a million times worse.

When interviewing conservatives, “they would tell me what questions I wasn’t allowed to ask,” said one anchor. "I'd ask anyway and they'd call me into the office and complain." And it became common for Herring to emerge from his upstairs office with some piece of news he’d picked up from a fringe website like Infowars or Gateway Pundit, insisting that OANN put it on the air.

A second former OANN anchor confirmed this account. “One of the things I did when I was there is go through all these conspiracies he was reading on crazy blog sites and tell him why we can't report it,” the second anchor told the Daily Beast.

“It was just an old guy with a bunch of conspiracy theory stories and we had to write it,” said a third former anchor. “They were known as ‘H stories.’ If there was story that was unbelievably ridiculous, it was an H story.”
I am surprised anyone other then the orange nut jo... (show quote)

What questions did you ask? I only recall your rambling on with no discernable purpose.

ask away...

In this post, you make a very general comment about the Mueller testimony.. we did reply to that, repeating that as he said he would do, remained very much on his 400 page report.

Thought I had posted a reply, but perhaps that was on some other thread..

Do you want to know what Mueller remarked on?

Permanut,

Get off your lazy ass and go back and read. I know your comprehension is limited along with your attention span, so I only used limited syllables for you.
I am referring too his live testimony, not his report that he couldn’t remember, like you.
I know you want President Trump out of the White House, but he will always live inside your head, rent free!
Lol, you talk about diversion, yet that’s all you do.
Dem 5D mode, Disrupt, Deceive, Deny, Deflect and you’re Delusional.
Cool your jets turbo, you might pop a blood vessel in your arse and in your case that could lead to brain damage.
Go back and read.

It has been scientifically proven that McCabe, Comey, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy are fictional characters and anything they say I wouldn't necessarily believe.

I think Mueller, a life long Republican and being appointed to many high and demanding positions by Republicans. Wanted to appear, above all as impartial. and never wished to damn anyone of his chosen party. not even trump.

It looked as if he was having a difficult day.. and I felt a bit of sympathy for him being put in that position..

In order to not make a verdict on the russian meddling, he had to adopt a "no indictment of a sitting president" policy. which was in keeping with a DOJ policy..

but while we will see much more details about this, these two early posted cover my expectations and the outcome as most saw it..

Taking his final questions of the day, though, from Intel chairman and California Rep. Adam Schiff, Mueller briefly became non-noncommittal. Schiff and the other Democrats on the committee had spent two-plus hours enumerating the various ways in which the Trump campaign, while it may have stopped short of joining an illegal conspiracy, had nonetheless welcomed, celebrated, and encouraged the crimes that Russian intelligence operatives committed against his opponent, Hillary Clinton. Schiff asked Mueller, essentially, what he thought about all that—and Mueller, however monosyllabically, told him.

SCHIFF: I’d like to see if we can broaden the aperture at the end of the hearing. From your testimony today, I gather that you believe that knowingly accepting foreign assistance during a p**********l campaign is an unethical thing to do.

MUELLER: And a crime.

SCHIFF: And a crime.

MUELLER: And a crime in given circumstances.

SCHIFF: And to the degree that it undermines our democracy and institutions, we can agree that it’s also unpatriotic.

MUELLER: True.

SCHIFF: And wrong.

MUELLER: True.

it followed another exchange in which Mueller, after being shown a slide of Trump’s enthusiastic comments about WikiLeaks’ publication of Democratic emails, responded that to call the president’s remarks about the stolen material “problematic” would be “an understatement”; it also took place just after Mueller told Florida Rep. Val Demings* that it would be “generally” fair to say that the president’s written answers to investigators’ questions were not entirely t***hful or complete. If you cared to hear it, the message was there: After two years, Schiff was able to get Mueller to be as direct as he’s ever going to be about judging the way that Donald Trump and the people close to him conducted themselves in 2016—and we learned that the words that Mueller thinks it’s fair to use to describe that conduct are ones like unethical, criminal, unpatriotic, and simply wrong. True, indeed.

But the larger problem with Mueller’s case was neatly summed up in his exchange with Republican Representative Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania. “You made a decision not to prosecute?” Reschenthaler asked.

“No,” Mueller replied, “we made a decision not to decide whether to prosecute or not.”

That one fundamental decision—the decision not to decide, because he believed doing so would be inherently unfair, given Justice Department guidelines barring indictment of a sitting president and Trump’s corresponding inability to have his day in court—ensured that Mueller’s testimony, like his investigation itself, wouldn’t resolve anything. And that’s far more than a matter of mere optics. It’s a built-in flaw in the basic script, one that Charlton Heston as Moses himself couldn’t counter—and one that Mueller would strenuously argue was neither his preference nor of his own making, but one that he, and the rest of us, must to learn to live with. To act on, or not.

The Navy commendation that Mueller won for his combat action in April 1969 in Vietnam noted that “although seriously wounded during the firefight, he resolutely maintained his position.” The same could be said, for better and worse, of his career-capping appearance—all right, performance—on Capitol Hill: It was much more than a mere show.

From what I saw I can't disagree with what I heard and saw yesterday.. I can say this.. Firstly, Mueller was a Marine!!! USMC!! Semper Fi & Oooh Rah!!.. Secondly, I felt for him as one human to another, He Knew he was gonna get Hammered by the Libs if he flubbed it.. well he did indeed Flub it, and quite a number of radical to moderate dems said the thing was a disaster.. He for all intents volunteered for this detail... and He wasn't the Author of said report, or he'd of had a Lot more of an idea as to it's contents, as it was, he had to be told where the citing was, they all were referring to, which he asked of Both sides.. MY opinion for what it's worth.. OK so was he the dems chosen one, very definetely yes!.. Did he Like being unethical about his search while totally waving Trump's right to be Innocent until proven guilty, instead it was Very Napoleon'esque which exact Opposite seems to apply.. Sooo, for the rest of the next 3 hours n change, I am going to watch the one that I missed, the House Judiciary Committee, to see what, If any disparities go on there & the later hearing with the House Intelligence Committee..Without spin! From Either side! Catch Y'all on the flip side.

Ok.. Good morning everyone... Last night I watched the Mueller hearing before the House Judiciary Committee..All I can say is there really wasn't much difference between his testimony with the Judiciary & the House Intelligence Committee.. it was Almost verbatim, also very few differences on the folks questioning, some were missing at the Judiciary compared to the Intelligence committee. But I heard a Lot of the same questions from the same people from one hearing to the other! One difference was that Nadler was the chair person for the Judiciary and Schiff was the chair on the Intelligence Committee, Nunez wasn't at the Judiciary nor was Schiff.

Here is the Link to the entire judiciary hearing!

Here is the FULL testimony on the hearing with House intelligence committee!
