I don't think many people have paid any attention to what is coming on January 1, 2014. I also think that the reason for it being 2014 instead of 2015, so they could build up a higher pile of money to pay for it with, was to make sure that all those who are happy with it (the 47%) would v**e for Democrat Congress critters. You can rest assured that 2014 was a purely political date and selected as such.
The 30 million who will suddenly have health insurance will surely be happy but those who lose their employee supplied insurance will be ready to v**e for somebody other than a Democrat.
