Why You Should Be Alarmed About Marijuana Legalization

Marijuana legalization poses a significant health risk to America’s youth—and many parents have no clue about the consequences, says a former Obama administration drug policy adviser. “Today’s marijuana is not the marijuana of the ‘60s, ‘70s or ‘80s. It’s five to 15 times stronger.”

Marijuana legalization poses a significant health ... (show quote)

Scotch whiskey is ten times stronger than beer, only a fool drinks it in the same quanity. How is the stronger pot any different?

Well, you should know, you post like you're had a few, or smoked a few. You tell us.

If it's legalized, then it is controlled. This should not be a factor. I believe it SHOULD be legalized to get rid of the Mexican drug cartels and a lot of the street drugs issues.

If you're of the mindset that legalization of pot will eliminate the Mexican drug cartels you are sadly mistaken. The Mexican drug cartels are salivating over the legalization of pot in this country, they control all the distribution networks. This will only make the cartels bigger and stronger, just ask any police officer. I know a few police officers, and they all say this. BTW, Colorado is experiencing this already.

Legalize it and stop throwing people in prison for it! Pretty much anyone who's inclined to smoke it does so anyway. Alarmed indeed! The main group of folks who need to be alarmed are the social cannibals who make the big bucks locking people up for any and every reason we can come up with, and of course, the mighty booze business who doesn't want the competition!

Logically that cannot be true. If we legally grow it and legally sell it, our government will regulate it as it regulates everything except our BMs - and that will come later. The drug cartels should have no door or window to access it. That assumes, of course that our government does one thing right, and that is a pie-in-the-sky wish.

The cartels are diversifying as rapidly as they can. Many are dumping billions into agriculture. They have already had an effect on citrus prices. They see the hand writing on the wall and it's about time.
It's funny but most people refuse to acknowledge the fact that many of god's creatures are drawn to rotting fruit so they can catch a buzz from the fermentation process. Cannabis is another natural world item. Both are used in medicine. Both have been abused by humans. So has practically everything else and practically everything else is regulated. So where were we ? Oh ya. Legalize the stuff and regulate it.

Oh, I hadn't known the cartels are diversifying. Are they buying land over here?! Every time anyone tries to do something that will help in any area, there are maggots to feed off it.

From an Obama drug warrior-now there's an opinion you can trust!
How about going to prison, what's that do for your health?

Excellent, Big Mike. And it is clear that if we do not Legalize all drugs, we support cartels and terroists' funding and petty crime and "senseless" murders and home invasions and outrageous costs for prisons (one needing to be built to house 20K people a year) and a billion dollar industry for private prisons invested in by lawyers and judges (vested interest) and...and...: not to legalize all drugs is insanity and suicide for this country and perhaps the world, the reasons nearly endless.
