Immigration: what to do? This subject is dividing the world and every nation. It helps to promote Nationalism and undermine democracies.

I have no freaking clue, really of two entirely different minds on this subject. Our borders of course need to be secured as best we can. What is happening over this very serious world crisis about immigration is that entrenched sides are being created, building, I see, toward global conflict, similar to WWI. The alt-Right has made this problem of immigration their political agenda throughout Europe and here. Blocking immigration of alien cultures that "corrupt" Western values is imperative to them.
Somebody please give some reasonable arguments as to how handle this seemingly impossible dilemma. Can there still be a balance between humanitarian aid and refuge for asylum seekers and protecting the integrity of our way of life?
