Seems this is pretty good assessment, while being only generally.. of course it does not fit all.

The last paragraph, It think it is very accurate..

the rate of illegal crossing has been going down for near 20 years.. why the big surge now?

I am not sure, but will not agree that it is caused in anyway by Democrats..

You may have noticed that I am a bit liberal and will v**e Democrat for the remainder of my life..

Never have i had a conversation with anyone who is for open borders, never have I listened to a speech or dialog by someone promoting open borders..

About a year ago or so, I posted an article called "16 points for open borders" or near that..
I expected to start a week long tirade of rants..

Instead, i got a total of two replies, and neither was any sort of outrage right or left.. nothing else.
It seemed then that no one on OPP gave a hoot about open borders.. so why would any of us change?

I also know I generalized a bit too much. But the Democratic party of what is left of it hasn't addressed the crisis at the border but claim that these asylum seekers are treated badly. That wouldn't have happened if they had approved more money and beds for these unfortunate people. The government is caught between a rock and a hard place with no where to go for funding. The Dems have to wake up before this costs us more than money, but lives of these i*****l i*******ts and Americans that may become ill from disease's brought to this country by these people. If that would happen and I sincerely hope it doesn't, it will be the fault of the Democratic Congressional people.

The potential disease problem is a worrisome thought..

It looks as if the funding by congress has become a norm to halt any policy not supported by both paries..

Congress used it many times in the last decade..

But the border controversy is about the wall, not about border security itself.. As for me, I am for solid border security, but the wall is not going to do it..

I guess during that time many were forced to get two jobs with the policies put in place by the Obama administration. I don't know the exact number of people that had to make enough money to accomplish receiving the same or more money received before the Obama regulations were instituted. Also wages were stagnant but prices kept rising and many had to acquire another job just to keep up with the inflation. That shows that not many more people were employed but more had at least two jobs. I don't believe it meant that more people were going off assistance and acquiring a job because the people on food stamps didn't diminish very much. I retired in 2005 because of injuries and with my retirements we lived comfortably until about 2008 when things started to go sideways then we had to make some accommodation's for the inflation. It wasn't a difficult time for us but I know of many families that were put into a bad spot by 2010.
I agree with your statement of the wall will not do it, but only because no matter how hish a wall is built there will be people and drugs getting into this country. Not nearly as many as now but there will be some. Just like there will be those that overstay their visas, No matter what is done there will still be those that get in illegally not of the numbers we have at the border now.
