You would have to know my wife, but she's pretty cool, and a hardass when need be. We really don't need the dog......but dang if I don't want it!!
I want to say that I shouldn't have disrupted this thread, but it was another dead end one anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Okay. Here’s what I do with the wife: do wh**ever I want. Depending upon the “offense”, it’ll be a couple of nights, up to six weeks, sleeping on the couch.
For example: a new pistol was a week or so. The new bass boat; meh, six weeks.
By the time bass spawn slows down, I’ll be ready for the big bed, but, too tired for s€x.

Lol! I'm pretty much the same, but bringing a new pup in to our routine will be a challenge.
I could do it anyway, but it will be a large dog, and will be a tax on time, and assets. It is our great grand dog. A Cane Corso/American Bulldog mix. Gonna be HUGE!
But I still want one......
I'm a firm believer in the philosophy that asking for forgiveness is better than asking for permission, but, on this one, I needed permission. Or, at least acceptance. I got neither.
