I thought it very interesting where it says that the brain picks up on the first and last letter of a word. When I see words that are shortened, it is still easy to read:
dgtr, mgr, est, etc.... These first come to mind.
I'm sure most words could be shortened for that matter, and with the subject matter of a sentence having been established it could easily be read.
