AOC asks pharma CEO why $2,000 HIV drug costs just $8 in Australia: 'People are dying for no reason'
Actually, there is a reason. Our economy is based on a free market and in a free market prices can be set anywhere a supplier wants. Normally, if something is priced too high there would be a corresponding drop in sales but with life-saving drugs demand is infinite and no matter how high the price there is still demand for the drug.
Infinite demand is the reason for socializing areas of our economy where healthcare would derive the greatest national benefit for the most people.
