Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) called for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement and halting deportations while delivering remarks on Thursday after President Donald Trump offered a new immigration plan.
"Today the president has unveiled an immigration plan that makes no mention of DACA, a program Trump unilaterally ended in late 2017, that has been h*****g by a thread thanks to court injunctions," Omar said, according to Mediaite. "A plan that fails to make sure people with temporary protection status and deferred enforced departure recipients don’t have a path to a permanent status or citizenship. A plan that seeks to limit asylum seekers fleeing violence."
Under Trump's proposal, high-sk**led workers would be favored in the immigration system. It also requires immigrants to be financially self-sufficient and learn English.
"Make no mistake, this plan would have a devastating effect on millions of people around the world who, like me, had plans of coming to this land of opportunity," Omar continued. "Our nation is, and has always been a beacon of hope for the world. We should be welcoming immigrants into our country and providing them a simple and accessible path to becoming documented, not treating them like criminals or dehumanizing them by calling them animals."
Trump has referred to members of the violent drug gang MS-13 as "animals," not all immigrants as Omar's comments imply.
"So what are we asking for?" continued Omar. "What we’re asking for is very simple. We need to make sure that we cut, and not put increases on spending on detention facilities. We need to stop using DHS as a slush fund."
"We need to abolish ICE, and end all inhumane deportation and detention programs," Omar said. "We need to fight back against the criminalization of immigrants and those crossing the border. We need to create a fair and accessible path to legal status and citizenship for all undocumented people in the United States."
Calls for abolishing ICE have diminished among Democratic p**********l candidates, despite previous expressions of support. Senators Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Kirsten Gillibrand said last year they favored abolishing ICE. A poll from August 2018 showed abolishing ICE had little support even among Democrats.

1) DACA was NOT legislation but an executive action. Congress at the time decried Obama's overreach of executive power and questioned its constitutionality.
2) DACA was never a path to citizenship. In fact a DACA recipient was NOT eligible for a green card or citizenship. Only leaving our country and returning legally opens the door toward citizenship. DACA simply deferred the time a person could be deported till later.
3) Trump proposed a provision for legal status for DACA recipients and others who would be eligible for DACA status in his compromise plan.
4) So what language do immigrants expect Americans to communicate with them in? Why is it bad to accept someone who may be a benefit to our country before accepting someone who will be a drain on it?
5) No MS13 are not animals. I know of no animals who are a fraction as despicable as MS13. They are a*********ns! Otherwise I agree with Trump!

are you an American wolfie?
if so you should want only legal immigrants to migrate to this country
would you like to see our America become a third class nation?
like the ones the i******s are coming from?
It's the border patrols job to keep them out.we don't need all the heavily armed groups you seem to want to support. He'll thay have already proven they can take your guns any time they want. And thay just ignored the 2nd amendment.
If you hadn't noticed the American people are slowly trading our freedom for security.
Bush and his patriot act started it and the American people just stood and watched!
Now they have recorded our voices and taken our photos with facial recognition cameras!
We like China have the ability to pick someone out of a packed ball game and arrest him or her.
They wish to put a camera on every intersection if that were posibul. They put a GPS in your cell phone so they can track you and they have a record of your travel including time, dates, places!
I can only suppose you think giveing police department's military wepones and hardware, tanks, armored vehicle's is a good thing.
their is a he'll of a lot more to worry about than a few wet backs slipping over the border.
Neither political party wants it to stop it and they prove it by refusing to aprove legislation that would punish employers who hire them,no work no wet backs,

Badbobby says that the Marines are the ones that failed the Navies entrance exam is that true? He says that to Slats all of the time so I thought that I would ask another Marine to see if it is true.
