Many many years ago prohibition was passed with terrible results; so bad it was repealed. Now they are leading up to doing it again with cigarettes. Will we ever learn? It's doubtful. I have a brain storm, let's tell, (no, force) everyone how to live. The good side is it gives government something to tax, and the black markets get rich. But society will lose as it strengthens a divisional public. Let's outlaw cigarettes. It will be fun. V**e for prohibition again; this time cigarettes. The churches will back it again as they think they know the best. I'm not against religion or the belief in God, just the churches. Jesus said you will never find God in a church, or if he didn't he should have. What the heck, I'll say it.

sisboombaa,
If you'll never find God in church, will you find him in a roadhouse? Jesus taught in the temple even at 12 years old. That WAS church back then. There are 2 sides to every coin. People wanted to drink alcohol and they did, prohibition or not. Gave rise to people like Al Capone. So, prohibition was a failure.

Flip that coin and here are some "sobering" facts;

In the US, one person is k**led every 39 minutes by a drunk driver.
Everyday 36 people die and nearly 700 are injured due to accidents caused by drunk drivers.
Nearly half of all teenage fatalities are caused due to drunk driving.
More males than females drive while intoxicated. According to statistics around 81 percent of all drunk drivers are men.
In 2007, alcohol-related deaths were 15, 387, which is approximately 37 percent of deaths that occurred in the United States.
The top five states with the highest number of alcohol-related deaths are Texas, Florida, Illinois, California and Pennsylvania.

Just take 2007 as a standard and multiply times 11 years. That's 169, 257 deaths from alcohol related accidents in 11 years. That's pretty sad too.

Church is where you find people who are not perfect but are at least trying to live according to the Bible and the teachings of Jesus. They dev**e time each week to go to church to worship and learn about Him. What is so wrong with that?

Also, teen text and drive.
Each year, over 330,000 accidents caused by texting while driving lead to severe injuries, and 1 out of 4 car accidents in the U.S. are caused by texting while driving. Every single day in the United States, 11 teens are k**led while texting and driving!Mar 27, 2018

In answer to your first question: I find God inside myself. You may too if you look within.
In answer to your last question: There is nothing wrong with going to church to worship if that is what a person desires. The churches do some good. I prefer to interact with God as an on going activity as opposed to once a week. Also, I don't need company to encourage me to "walk" with God.

Good answer. Have you read where it says to forsake not the assembling of your self's together?
Hebrews 10:25 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

So...where did Jesus say you would find God? Jesus said,"No man cometh to the Father but by me". so, God is not "inside you" to start with. How did you come across Him? Just curious...

It's a long story that most people probably would not believe. It starts with my parents meeting in a bible college with my father intending on becoming a minister and my mother, several years younger, dropped out when she became pregnant with me. My father and the church had a falling out. When I was middle aged I fell down an elevator shaft and was pronounced dead. What I experienced in the time frame of my "death" I told two others about it and the expression on their faces told me to just keep it to myself. I've always believed in God but without much knowledge as to why. I have never doubted the wisdom or existence of God since my "death". No church could teach me what I learned through my experiences; which is too bad. I'm not down on churches just feel they are limited. A lot could be written describing my experiences and life but to what benefit and to whom. A lot has been written, by others, about my occupational successes but not one word on the fact that God played a major role on my actions and decisions. Much the pity.

Quite a story! What you experienced in your "death" sounds as though it was morbid. If you could or would send me a Private Message revealing what you witnessed, I would greatly appreciate it and you need not fear judgement or exposure. Without knowing your experience, I would have to say that church really IS limited because you're not there sharing your story and testimony. Someone may have a story of their own that might make an impression on you! If your not there, you will never know who you could have blessed or who might have blessed you. I'm sure you know all of this already but it's my reasonable duty to God to tell you. And I have. I would really like to know what you saw or experienced though.

It wasn't morbid at all. It was very informative and loving. I will think about sending you a private message and what I feel may benefit you and others indirectly; maybe tomorrow. I fear not your judgement or judgement from anyone for that matter. Exposure is not a fear but I do prefer to remain anonymous. For 25 years I had no private life. The privacy I have now and for the past 10 years feels so good. The attention I give and receive from my loved ones is all I need or want.
