This happened before, remember, then Xi Jinping came creeping back to Trump with an armload of concessions. See, they need us more than we need them, and President Trump's previous break from negotiations with China damaged their economy so badly that China has begun cutting back on their U.S. investments, like real estate and corporate shares, because Xi needs their funds reinvested in his weakened economy.
This is good, as was Trump's forcing China to sell their majority ownership of the Port of Long Beach -- we don't need the Chinese owning too big a chunk of America.
But don't crow over the brief market dip or you'll only look like the fool you are when it comes back even stronger, and when Xi again comes snivelling back to the table.
Had Obama been dealing with Xi these days instead of Trump, by now the Chinese would probably own the Pentagon, Rhode Island and 2/3 of Cleveland.
