This post is for all you guys who believe in the hype that 1) v*****es are safe, and 2) v*****es such as the MMR v*****e prevent Measles. https://www.collective-evolution.com/2019/05/06/paediatrician-explains-fallacy-of-media-hyped-hysteria-about-the-measles/

IN BRIEF
The Facts:Dr. Bob Sears, a paediatrician, in an interview with Del Bigtree shares some facts about measles as well as the measles v*****e that the mainstream media is completely ignoring.

Reflect On:Why is fear constantly used to push v******tion? Why does the mainstream never address nor counter the points made by v*****e awareness advocates and simply labels them as "anti-vax conspiracy theorists?"

What is this fascination with disinformation? Why are so many so eager to dive headfirst into the latest bit of disinformation, conspiracy theory, pseudo-science, propaganda and lies? Do you think that it makes you intellectual? Do you think it makes you cultured? Do you not realize that it makes you appear to be a moron?

The article that you cite lists This as proof of their claim "Rebecca J. McNall, a co-author of the published report, is a CDC official in the Division of V***l Diseases who had the data proving that the measles outbreak was in part caused by the v*****e. It is evidence of the v*****e’s failure to provide immunity. (source)", even though the "source" makes no such assertions to back her claim.

That website does NOT bother with confirming their facts through reliable sources. Below I will link a couple sources related to the site you cited.

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Collective_Evolution

https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/collective-evolution/

I believe this article is much more relevant and accurate. They took the pains to research their facts through reliable sources.

Michigan state Representative Thomas Hooker (R) claimed that “some statistics indicated more children had died from immunizations than died from measles,” according to a Gongwer News article published in early December.[1] This statement came after Hooker introduced two bills into the Michigan House Committee on Health Policy.

In January 2015, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued new rules regarding immunization opt-out procedures. The regulation requires parents who request a nonmedical exemption form to first attend a meeting with a local health department official to discuss the potential risks.[2] House Bill 5127, introduced by Rep. Hooker in December 2015, would reverse this policy. A second bill, HB 5126, would prevent local health departments from restricting non-immunized students from attending school as a “disease control measure” except in cases of an epidemic.[1][3]

Do deaths from v******tion outnumber deaths caused by measles? At first glance the numbers seem to support Representative Hooker's conclusion; since 2000, the U.S. has seen 12 recorded measles deaths and 104 deaths reported after the administration of the measles v*****e. However, in our examination of the data we find several confounding variables that suggest that there is more to the story.

Measles as a cause of death
Two weeks prior to publishing this article, we reached out to Representative Hooker’s office for clarification on what statistics he was referring to. We have not yet received a response, but if we hear back, we will update this article accordingly.

We limited the geographical scope of our examination to the United States. Measles, a highly infectious disease, remains one of the leading causes of death among children worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 114,900 people died of measles in 2014—the majority of which were children under five years old—but none of these deaths were in the United States.[4]

In the National Vital Statistic Reports (NVSR) produced by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) between 2000 and 2013 (the last year with available data), measles is listed as a cause of death 11 times. Two of these cases were children under the age of four.[5] In 2015, the Washington State Department of Health recorded one measles death.[6] The victim was a 22-year-old woman.[7] However, of the 12 deaths reported, only two are considered verified by the CDC. Ian Branam, a spokesman from the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, clarified in an email:

“ Measles deaths are only counted and considered verified when there is evidence that an acute measles infection was responsible for the death. The last verifiable deaths in the United States from acute measles infection occurred in 2003 when there were two reported deaths.[8][9] ”
Immunization and deaths
What about the second part of Rep. Hooker’s claim regarding deaths caused by v******tion?

The V*****e A*****e E***t Reporting System (V***S), a national database jointly run by the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), provides information about possible side effects that occur after v******tion.[10] From January 2000 to December 2015, 104 deaths were reported to V***S following the administration of one of the four measles v*****es. However, there are several variables that affect the interpretation of this data.

First, V***S is a self-reporting system. This means that anyone—doctors, patients, family—can file a report, even if the event is not verified. As such, there is a high opportunity for reporting errors and information bias in the data. Second, V***S does not establish a causal relationship between v******tion and the a*****e e***t. A disclaimer on the V***S website reads:

“ When evaluating data from V***S, it is important to note that for any reported event, no cause-and-effect relationship has been established. Reports of all possible associations between v*****es and a*****e e***ts (possible side effects) are filed in V***S. Therefore, V***S collects data on any a*****e e***t following v******tion, be it coincidental or truly caused by a v*****e. The report of an a*****e e***t to V***S is not documentation that a v*****e caused the event.[11][9] ”
In other words, a reported event is not proof that the v*****e was the cause of death. Instead, a report is simply a claim that death occurred sometime after v******tion. Given these constraints on the data, we are unable to meaningfully compare the V***S reported deaths to the number of deaths caused by measles recorded by the CDC.

Mortality rates pre- and post-immunization
Hooker’s claim does not address the correlation between immunization and the decline in measles cases and deaths.

Measles k**led an estimated 2.6 million people worldwide each year before v******tion was widespread, according to the World Health Organization. In 2014, with approximately 85 percent of children worldwide v******ted with the first dose, an estimated 114,900 people died from measles.[4] The trend is similar for the United States. In the decade prior the measles v*****e becoming available in 1963, the disease caused an estimated 440 deaths annually.[12] In 1965, two years after the introduction of the v*****e, 267 measles deaths were reported. The number dropped to 20 in 1975, and in 1985, with approximately 97 percent of the U.S. population v******ted, only four measles deaths were reported.[13][14][15]

A decade and a half after the CDC declared the measles v***s effectively eliminated in the United States, measles seems to be making a comeback.[16] In 2014, the CDC recorded 667 instances of measles, the highest number since 1994 when 958 cases were reported.[17][18] This resurgence, according to the CDC, is linked to stagnating v******tion rates. Since 2000, annual national childhood immunization rates have remained between 90 and 93 percent; however, these rates vary significantly across states and localities.[19][20] At the center of this matter is the concept of community (or "herd") immunity, a protective effect that interrupts the t***smission of the disease to vulnerable people. However, the success of this effect is dependent upon high immunization rates through infection or v******tion.[21] In other words, when v******tion rates drop, the opportunity for outbreak increases.

Conclusion
State Representative Thomas Hooker was cited as saying that “some statistics indicated more children had died from immunizations than died from measles.” Outwardly, the numbers substantiate Hooker's claim. According to the CDC there have been only two verifiable deaths from acute measles infection since 2000. During this same time period, there have been 104 reported cases of death after v******tion for measles. However, the numbers do not tell the whole story. Due to the self-reporting nature of the V***S reporting system, no cause-and-effect relationship can be established between the measles v*****e and the subsequent reported deaths. Additionally, Hooker's claim does not account for the decline in measles deaths associated with v******tion rates.

Questions:

If v*****es aren't effective, why have overall worldwide deaths from these diseases that we v******te against dropped worldwide AFTER we started actively v******ting against them? (Primarily in the v******tion zones)

Why are the reported cases of these diseases so rare in v******tion zones as compared to in un-v******ted zones?

Supposing that people HAVE actually died as a result of being v******ted (deaths have occurred AFTER a v******tion but none have been confirmed to have been a direct result of being v******ted), which is worse, a greater number of deaths due to a disease that we can v******te against or a lesser number of deaths that may or may not be related to the actual v*****e?

Why? Because they are afraid and they place too much trust in institutions that have failed us time and time again. Not everything is disinformation and propaganda but people don't think. They let google think for them instead. We've had disinformation and propaganda thrown at us from our own government many times but still...people. don't. think.

A lot of us got sick from some of the required v*****es before going overseas. And these weren't shots for serious diseases.

Big pharma is about profits first. That's one reason drug prices are astronomical - the drug lobby pushes to keep them that way. Yet people trust them even though they work against us and so many drugs now have crazy side effects. They will bend over backwards to do defend them.

Look how easily it is to get people scared. Far more die from the flu than measles but people don't get hysterical over the flu.

There's more to it than simply v******ting. Malnutrition has a lot to do with it. There are numerous articles about it.

"In the developing world, epidemiologic factors associated with severe measles include younger age, overcrowding, poor access to care, pre-existing medical conditions, and malnutrition. Because these factors frequently coexist in the developing world, the relative contribution of each to measles morbidity is unclear. However, malnutrition has been implicated most markedly and repeatedly."

It might be. Nothing is 100% but it would be close. I read somewhere that it also helps with other diseases which was unexpected.

Just came across another article. Probably just another snake oil site:
A DOZEN FACTS ABOUT MEASLES that you won’t learn from MSPharmedia: https://childrenshealthdefense.org/news/a-dozen-facts-about-measles-that-you-wont-learn-from-mspharmedia/
1) Measles is usually a mild, self-limiting childhood illness.

2) Since 2000, there have been nine reported measles deaths in the U.S. Since 1986, there have been 415 deaths associated with the MMR v*****e according to the V*****e A*****e E***t Reporting System.

3) In 1962, the CDC attributed 408 deaths to measles out of a population of 186 million (risk=2/1,000,000—about double the risk of dying from lightning).

4) The risk of measles mortality is much higher among malnourished children; contemporary science suggests that vitamin A can reduce this risk by over 80%.

5) “Natural” vitamin A cannot be patented so Pharma has no interest in promoting it.

6) Unlike Merck’s MMR v*****e, wild measles infection confers lifetime immunity from measles. Having measles in childhood may also reduce the risk of atopic disease, heart disease, Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas and some other cancers.

7) Meanwhile, the MMR is associated with seizure rates five times greater than associated with wild measles, as well as brain damage, encephalitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and dozens of other serious a*****e e***ts.

8) Half the kids in Merck’s clinical studies suffered serious gastrointestinal problems within 42 days of the jab.

9) Merck’s MMR v*****e provides meager maternal antibodies to protect infants in their first year when they are too young for the v*****e, putting babies at risk for brain damage and death.

10) Contrary to Merck’s promise, the MMR rarely provides lifetime immunity, putting postpubescent adults at heightened risk for serious injury or death.

11) According to Lancet Infectious Diseases, measles has become more severe in infant and adult cohorts as v*****e-based immunity wanes leaving adults unprotected and infants vulnerable due to loss of passive immunity from mothers.

12) Similarly, instead of providing the promised lifetime immunity, the mumps component of the MMR, simply delays mumps infections until after puberty when it can cause sterility in men and women.

And again with the anti-vax websites. Let us look at that URL, https://childrenshealthdefense.org/news/a-dozen-facts-about-measles-that-you-wont-learn-from-mspharmedia/. Sensationalism, a key warning sign that the "facts" presented will likely be biased.

1) Measles is usually a mild, self-limiting childhood illness.

Accurate statement.

2) Since 2000, there have been nine reported measles deaths in the U.S. Since 1986, there have been 415 deaths associated with the MMR v*****e according to the V*****e A*****e E***t Reporting System.

First off, the V***S system is a self reporting system, ANYONE can post an "event" to it and the "events" DO NOT get thoroughly investigated, they get reported and they show up, PERIOD. One can SPECULATE a connection, that doesn't mean a connection exists. I can speculate that if I play a certain set of "lucky numbers" that I WILL win the lottery, that doesn't mean I will.

Additionally, this article states that there have been 415 deaths ASSUMED to be linked to the v*****e by those that reported the deaths as being associated to the v*****e. That doesn't mean those deaths had anything at all to do with the v*****e. Also to note, 415 deaths between 1986 and 2019, that is FAR less deaths than we would have seen had we NOT promoted the v*****e. 415+ deaths from Measles PER YEAR is not unheard of prior to v******tion, and that is in the U.S. ALONE.

3) In 1962, the CDC attributed 408 deaths to measles out of a population of 186 million (risk=2/1,000,000—about double the risk of dying from lightning).

Roughly correct, but then we must look at how few deaths from Measles we have WITH v******tion. That number is GREATLY reduced WITH the v*****e.

4) The risk of measles mortality is much higher among malnourished children; contemporary science suggests that vitamin A can reduce this risk by over 80%.

This portion is also true.

5) “Natural” vitamin A cannot be patented so Pharma has no interest in promoting it.

And here we see this bias that we can expect based on the sensationalism in the headline.

6) Unlike Merck’s MMR v*****e, wild measles infection confers lifetime immunity from measles. Having measles in childhood may also reduce the risk of atopic disease, heart disease, Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas and some other cancers.

Yes, it is recommended that people receive the Measles v*****e at least twice as compared to actually contracting Measles can typically only happen once per lifetime.

As for the claim related to atopic disease in this section, I looked at the research they based this claim on and it stated:

study cited wrote:
inverse associations were observed between measles infection and "any allergic symptom" and "any diagnosis of allergy by a physician." However, no associations were found between measles v******tion and allergic disease.

So, the study finds that those that contract Measles don't present with allergies, however "no associations were found between measles v******tion and allergic disease.". This suggests to me that they too did not present with allergies either. If they had presented with allergies, the study would not have stated "no associations were found between measles v******tion and allergic disease.". So that claim is a wash.

As for the heart disease claim, the study they cite does appear to support what they claim.

As for the Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, the study they cited is not very informative, it leaves off their methodology and does not indicate precisely what criteria they went by.

As for the claim concerning some other cancers, it appears to only associate ACUTE cases of Measles with any beneficial impact.

Merriam Webster wrote:
Definition of acute
1a(1) : characterized by sharpness or severity of sudden onset
acute pain
(2) : having a sudden onset, sharp rise, and short course
acute illness
(3) : being, providing, or requiring short-term medical care (as for serious illness or traumatic injury)
acute hospitals
an acute patient
b : lasting a short time
acute experiments

Severe or acute cases of Measles can end in death which would negate the beneficial impact I would think.

7) Meanwhile, the MMR is associated with seizure rates five times greater than associated with wild measles, as well as brain damage, encephalitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and dozens of other serious a*****e e***ts.

The first part of this claim is reliant on on V***S. the site they cite to support the first claim in this section contains this statement about V***S.

Quote:
3. How accurate is surveillance of a*****e e***ts from the MMR v*****e?
The government tracks reported cases of v*****e side effects through the V*****e A*****e E***t Reporting System (V***S). Approximately 40 cases of death and permanent injury from the MMR v*****e are reported to V***S annually.5 However, V***S is a passive reporting system—authorities do not actively search for cases and do not actively remind doctors and the public to report cases. These limitations can lead to significant underreporting.6 The CDC states, “V***S receives reports for only a small fraction of actual a*****e e***ts.”7 Indeed, as few as 1% of serious side effects from medical products are reported to passive surveillance systems,8 and as few as 1.6% of MMR-related seizures are reported to V***S.9 In addition, V***S reports are not proof that a side effect occurred, as the system is not designed to thoroughly investigate all cases.10 As a result, V***S does not provide an accurate count of MMR v*****e side effects.
3. How accurate is surveillance of a*****e e***ts ... (show quote)

Article does not articulate any information backing it's claim here and only points to a 215 page PDF which I have chosen to skip at this time as I have other things that need doing besides informing the ignorant of their ignorance and the benefits of the v*****es far outweigh any perceived harm they may cause.

Even mothers who HAVE had the Measles do not pass on sufficient immunity to their children to prevent measles so this is a moot point.

There is no increased risk of contracting Measles due to having been v******ted and it is well known that you need a booster shot and if you choose not to get it, the fault is your own.

Keeping up with your v******tions is your responsibility. It appears to be recommended that 2 childhood v******tions and 1 adulthood v******tion is the current recommendation.

Nowhere is it stated that one shot covers you for life.

Conclusion: V******tion benefits far outweigh any potential risk from v******tion.
