I notice there is no link to the story or any way to verify the statement or implication made on her Facebook page. Thus I suppose is why you titled your post "Selective Reporting".

This is allegedly an incident that occurred 2015...
I read a similar article but it was about a girl doing the same thing..
Turned out it was not true.. I’m not saying this isn’t true I just question it.

I just copied the link off the Facebook page that was referenced Linda. Hard to say if it is true or not, it is from NBC news after all!

The downside of Facebook is that much of what I receive, and perhaps others also receive, is often recycled stuff. I often neglect to check the date when the episode took place. However, I had not seen this before.

Considering the specificity of the information in the article posted by the local news outfit in that area, I would say it is likely true.

Yes, Trump and alt right sources tell you NBC and all the others are "f**e news" so they MUST be telling you the t***h, right? I have found much more questionable news from Fox news channel up to and including conspiracy theories that have already been debunked many times over. But by all means, disbelieve valid news sources and continue to believe in questionable ones, the only one you are harming is yourself with disinformation.

Whoa there CSM! I didn't say it was f**e news "because" it was from NBC. I just said it was hard for me to say if it was true or not. Mainly because I hadn't looked into it any further. My experience with the "news" channels in my small town neck of the woods, is that the big three alphabet networks broadcast the same basic stories as our Fox affiliate does, but with a very noticeable left of center slant to the story. Right or wrong, that's just my opinion. I have my opinions and you have yours. You know what they say about opinions, they are like a..holes, everybody has one.

I have seen so many claims of "f**e news" that it is hard to not jump to such conclusions when one questions a story they hear of from such sources.
As for the "left of center" claim, The news I see from those "alphabet news sources", they tend to put forth the facts without embellishments or commentary, the way news SHOULD be delivered. It is not our journalists job to tell us how to think about the facts but to merely put the facts out there and let US make of it what we will.

Thanks for posting the link. If this event occurred in my former home state of NJ, the 13 yr old would have been arrested because NJ does not have a stand your ground law. Due to the minor age of the boy, I'm not sure of how they would charge him, but if he was an adult, he would have been charged with manslaughter. NJ require that you take all means of escape before discharging a weapon. Ridiculous, of course, but that is NJ law for you! I much prefer how South Carolina would view this situation.

Don’t disagree, it may very well be true.. If so, I say good the young man defended himself and his mother had educated him to potentials such as this incident...

I made the comment "Selective Reporting" because of the question contained, "has anyone seen this story reported"? I haven't gone back to check, but as I recall it went something like that. I gave it a quick read prior to posting. I Probably should have read more thoroughly, before posting.
