It’s called “respect for the elderly”. You may not have ever heard of that...

Pay it forward, Karma, Respect, wh**ever you want to call it, a person is what he does. Actions do speak louder than words.

My favorite line about beer is when describing Coors "It's like making love in a boar, blanking near water. And that is the t***h. When I was at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Finance School just outside of Indianapolis, we had 3.2 beer. Talk about beer so close to water....

The first beer I drank was at Ft. Lewis, Washington; Olympia and Carling's Black Label. I think they brew Pabst at the old Olympia Brewery in Tumwater (near Tacoma). Another old-time local beer from Los Angeles was Brew 102. My dad used to buy the partial-fill bottles and cans at the brewery for pennies on the dollar.

What happened to Schlitz?

Where I shop for groceries, when you come out of the store there is a pretty good slope downhill. I frequently see elderly people struggling to hold back their cart until the lot levels out. I always ask if I can help. Anytime, and I mean ANYTIME you do something to help a person in need, it will come right back at you and you will be blessed.
I think more and more, people are getting weary of the strife within this country and are realizing that a little kindness creates a peaceful feeling (yes, a warm felling)in the one giving of themselves and a sense of appreciation and thankfulness to those on the receiving end.
These little acts usually take less than a minute, but the good feelings can last all day.

I remember that being done by a lot of people in my youth. Mississippi was a dry state back then but I recall my dad driving up to tar paper shacks in the country a few times and a window would open and a brown paper bag would be passed to him after he handed them some money. Being nosy from birth I peeked to see what he was buying and it was whiskey, always a pint of Old Crow. He said it was medicine at first but after a couple of years and knowing I had learned to read and write, he fessed up but swore me to secrecy. Never saw him drunk or hungover and then it was no longer medicine but a little toddy for the body. There was always a little brown paper bag on the top shelf of his closet, even when I graduated from high school. But he never drank in front of his kids and I never saw him take a drink but a few times his coke on ice tasted a little funny.

I wasn't clear enough.
This person appeared to be a store employee.
The checker person scans the products while the sacker person bags them. After the t***saction is complete, the sacker person pushes the buggy full of the customer's purchases out, and loads them in the vehicle.
At least, that's how it's done here.
This just seemed really odd to me.

My husband and I are elderly and we have been very good customers at a Super Market which will remain unnamed. It had gotten to the point we had to sack our own groceries. We never expected or wanted anyone to push them out to the car and load them. Just please pack them! We’re paying enough for the groceries. We weren’t the only people who felt that way apparently because after a few months of this the store went into bankruptcy. Interesting that you brought this up. Thanks for giving me a chance to vent.
