What Law is This? High Schooler Arrested for Ranking Girls By Their Looks

According to NBC24, a Perrysburg, Ohio high school student named Mehros Nassersharifi has been arrested after students at Perrysburg High School complained about a Twitter account he was running.

Perrysburg Police took Nassersharifi into custody on Wednesday, charging him with the astounding crime of “telecommunications harassment.” What was the young man’s specific crime? He was apparently keeping a “Top 100 Hottest Girls at Perrysburg High” list going on his Twitter account, @GirlsRanked.

Now say what you will about the ethics of keeping such a list, and say what you will about any disciplinary action the school could or should have taken, but we fail to see how this rises to the level of criminal activity. Perhaps it is a sign of poor upbringing. Perhaps it is a sign that the gentleman running the account does not have the proper level of respect for his female classmates (although even that is getting a little too deep for us). But a crime? We’re going to saddle this kid with a criminal record because of some harmless ranking list?

To imagine how insidious this is, you only need to think about what would have happened if the g****r roles were reversed. Not in a million years would the Perrysburg Police Department, or any other police department in the world, arrest a young woman for maintaining a “Top 100 hottest dudes” list on her Twitter account. And if they did, that young woman would be a guest on the Today Show and Hollywood’s latest cause célèbre before the week was finished.

“A Perrysburg High School student was charged by Perrysburg Police Department for telecommunications harassment today, April 17, 2019, in connection with a Twitter account that was opened last week that contained posts (now removed) that made very inappropriate and disparaging comments about several of our female students,” read a statement from the school district. “We are pleased to share that more than 100 students reported this Twitter account to teachers and administrators last week, which enabled us to quickly respond and begin our investigation in partnership with Perrysburg Police Department.”

Sorry, but we fail to see how making “inappropriate and disparaging comments” should put anyone in danger of being arrested. The First Amendment is still a thing in Ohio, is it not?

2. 'Nice'
3. 'So So'
4. 'Ughh'
5. 'Dog'

SWMBO tells me that women have rating systems for men as well, and that the rating system changes as the woman matures in thinking. I really don't think that as men mature our rating system changes, just the discernment aspect.

Men are sexual predators. They don't need any encouragement focusing on sexuality above all and making women pay the price.

By commoditizing the girls with a number value, it t***sformed them into objects people could objectify at will on a sexual basis instead of a fair basis.

Also using their real names in a pejorative sense could be labeled Slander.

Why not start a twitter account ranking the 100 smallest dick sizes, of a certain high school, those guys, in order low to high.

The cheerleaders, little sisters, so-called friends and the dumped could pool their information.

It's pretty obvious that the police in this particular town just plain do not have enough valid work to do. There have always been contests for which woman is the prettiest. The problem here is that we have taught young people that EVERYONE DESERVES A TROPHY, and since this activity does not bare that out--then those responsible must be crushed! What your looks are in high school are a very poor representation of how well you will do in life. Let's start teaching vulnerable young women, and young men that they should not hang their hat on what their rating was in high school.

Society has been turning kids into lunatics. Schools have been turning kids into lunatics. Pop culture is turning kids into lunatics. Everyone was more sane when less was against the law and people were held personally accountable for what they did with their freedom.

However, this is an appointed time and there are things taking place in the hearts and minds of people we don't usually consider. Good and bad things.

The battle is spiritual and the answer is not censorship, public shaming, bringing the authorities into the picture...none of that.

So right. Not enough to do. The kids will be kids,haven’t changed much although I do believe there’s more bullying. Perhaps the teachers and police could pay more attention to harmful bullying than rating stuff that’s been going on forever. I’ll bet Noah rated the goats, etc. before taking two aboard. He’d want top quality, wouldn’t he?
