Georgetown Students to Pay R********ns for Their School’s Ancient Sins

Georgetown University students rose to stratospheric heights of enlightenment last week, v****g to increase the school’s tuition so that a fund could be created for the descendants of the 272 Africans ens***ed and sold by the university’s founding Jesuits.
This scenario, of course, unfolded long before these students, their fathers, or their grandfathers were ever born. But to the modern liberal, the sins of the past are the sins of the present, and they can’t free themselves from this self-imposed misery until they make up for what happened in 1838. If it means paying a little more for college, so be it. Or, more accurately, making their parents pay more. But hey, college should be free anyway, right?
“We value the engagement of our students and appreciate that they are making their voices heard and contributing to an important national conversation,” Todd Olson, vice president for student affairs, said.
If the resolution is approved by Georgetown’s administration (and really, are they going to risk the bad publicity and protests that would come along with rejecting it?), undergrads will pay $27.20 more each semester so that the 4,000 living descendants of those s***es can have access to new education and health care programs.
Like…we get it. We understand that these kids are young, impressionable, and inspired to “do good.” They’ve been taught that s***ery was not only a reprehensible thing that happened in America’s past, but that there would BE no America without it. They’ve been taught, further, that modern-day incarceration is pretty much the same thing as s***ery. So we get it. They want to make a difference and change the world, and this was their little way to do it. It’s almost cute.
But someone should really wake these kids up. They are on the precipice of joining the so-called “real world,” and it’s time for them to start putting childish fantasies away. Fact is, some people are born into privilege and some people aren’t. You can wish all day that things weren’t different, but they aren’t going to be. That way lies liberalism and misery.
Whether your ancestors were born into s***ery or ran a small fiefdom in South Carolina, it really doesn’t matter to who you are today. And whether you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth (like many of these Georgetown students) or had things a little tougher growing up, your horizons are literally as limitless as your imagination. If we want to have an “important national conversation” that actually moves the needle, let’s start with that one. It doesn’t even cost $27.20. But it’s worth a hell of a lot more.
