Ray McGovern tells it differently, I don't know if he's anti Trump, he's on the left but that doesn't mean much now-days.
Your post reminds me of the extremely close situation in 2013 when Obama was nearly mousetrapped, according to Ray McGovern , into a massive war, you migh remember the Mediterranean stand off.
