The government claims a little less than one third of the land mass of the lower 48 and most of
Alaska. Why not sell a lot of that land to private citizens?

The federal government is too busy stealing land from private citizens.

As citizens we all own and in many instances can use these public lands. Why on earth would you want it sold off. I enjoy using public land and the last thing I would want is for it to be sold to the highest bidder.

The public does not see or use most of the land claimed by the government. Sell the part the public does not use.

The Govt is constantly selling some of the public lands, without much notice to the public.
However, they do have a list of land for sale, you can find it with a search of B*M. do not have a link but it is public and updated on a regular basis..
for most it is not a matter of buying the land, it is keeping the land in the public ownership...
rather then develop and mine every scrap of federal land, most want more access to the land we as a people own.. for the people, not the corporations...

Selling public land usually ends up with moneyed people owning it. I saw this happen in Florida with the privatization of once public beaches being closed off to the public.
Don't pay your taxes and then see who owns your land ( the question is who owns the the land)

Larry, I do not think the vast tracts of federal land we have are due to the Antiquities act..
The far greatest parts are land which was not wanted.. after they gave miles and miles to Railroads, Towns which incorporated on routes, and homesteads, timber and mines. the land no one wanted was left in the hands of the federal Government..
Now, things have changed and we have interest in the beauty and naturalness of these lands. Let us keep these areas for the people of the United States.. Our Taxes do pay for the management and oversight of them.
Keep em for the people, not for give away to the corps..

It wasn't widely reported because it doesn't fit the narrative that Russia is our enemy. 'F**e news' isn't limited to what's reported, but includes what isn't. Misleading by omission.

You are more right then wrong..
I did see a very little reporting of it, but not nearly as much as I feel it should have gotten..
I truly like that monument..
