New Zealand became an independent nation without a war with Great Britain. There was not a war and attempt to rid the country of the indigenous population like in North America. These two factors influenced the attitude toward arms in the US.

FYI....the Maori (indigenous people) were hunted to near extinction due to colonization.
IMO, the present “attitude” has nothing to do with how we became independent, but, how we intend to REMAIN independent. There doesn’t seem to be any implied “attitude” in the 2cnd amendment; unless it means “we the people” would fight to remain free.
