I once had a student right a paper on who was his hero... Needless to say I was rather shocked when he chose Hitler
But after reading the paper and speaking to the boy (16 years old) I was surprised...
He acknowledged that Hitler was quite evil..Then went on to discuss his usage of politics and economics...
Can't say as that I agreed with much of what the boy said... But his points were well made and he was entitled to his opinion.... (I did suggest a few more suitable heroes
) ...That young man is now in the second best university in China.. One of the top rated universities in the world... (I think number 38 as of last year... But would have to check)...
I can absolutely understand wanting to write about Trump... Good for her...
The teacher should be disciplined

They should follow the law...
And teachers should encourage children to express themselves and defend their viewpoints....
My old highschool English teacher Loved to keep me after class and debate about some of my viewpoints... I owe him a lot... Taught me the value of substantiating one's stances...

The reason is simple, nothing about him has been verified and he is buffoon. Quoting Trump, "grabbing pussy" or implying Charlottesville Evropa Torch bearers are wonderful people is not a person to write about, unless your his lawyer.
