Planned Parenthood began the year celebrating. Now it's backed in a corner.

It cheered as states passed laws allowing live-birth a******n - even infanticide.

We immediately took action in New York and many other states. Now pro-life Members in Congress are utilizing a little-known House rule to force Speaker Pelosi to hold a v**e on a critical bill to end infanticide.

In just the first day, 197 pro-life Representatives signed - 21 away from forcing Speaker Pelosi to hold a v**e. Our team is aggressively working on Capitol Hill.

Now we're just days away from filing briefs in 3 major Planned Parenthood defunding cases. More than 20 states and Planned Parenthood have filed lawsuits to block a federal rule that would defund millions of our tax dollars from the a******n industry.

We're also preparing a brief in a big a******n case at the Supreme Court; and next week, the Court will hold a conference on another a******n case in which we filed a brief.

No true Christian would bear false witness by saying any of the recent state laws passed to ease onerous a******n regulations ammount to infanticide. Precluding forced “heroic efforts” to resuscitate fetuses without a brain and other terminal prognosis is both compassionate and common sense. It is nothing short of ghoulish to force women to carry such doomed pregnancies to term at risk to their own well being and then insist medical staff prolong the suffering of all involved.

There is no cure or standard treatment for anencephaly and the prognosis for patients is death. Most anencephalic fetuses do not survive birth, accounting for 55% of non-aborted cases. Infants that are not stillborn will usually die within a few hours or days after birth from cardiorespiratory arrest.

In almost all cases, anencephalic infants are not aggressively resuscitated because there is no chance of the infants ever achieving a conscious existence. Instead, the usual clinical practice is to offer hydration, nutrition, and comfort measures and to "let nature take its course". Artificial ventilation, surgery (to fix any co-existing cong*****l defects), and drug therapy (such as antibiotics) are usually regarded as futile efforts. Some clinicians and medical ethicists view even the provision of nutrition and hydration as medically futile.

These situations are beyond tragic and the difficult decisions they present should be left to the women and their doctors without the abuse and pressure from anti choice zealots and their sycophants in government.
