When I turned 18 I sighned up for Social Security and registered Democrat my parents party they loved FDR for the comfort he gave them during the great depression when some people were starving to death. But I regularly read Senator Barry Goldwater's syndicated column in my local news paper and he was persuasive so When I bought a brand new three bedroom tract home with two bathrooms and a double car garage with the help of an FHA loan I changed my registration to Republican and v**ed for all the Republicans. It took me decades to wake up to the fact that I had been able to support a wife and two daughters on a single income to a middle class standard of living. Something my parents couldn't have dreamed of and that my success was directly due to the opportunity that the FDR new deal had provided as well as my own hard work. It was big Republican real Estate developers that wrecked my trade and smashed the union. Today a journyman drywall finnisher earns 50 % of what I earned. My earnings and savings allowed me to raise the capital to start my own busdiness. So I finally woke up to the fact I had all those v**ed against my own interest and supported the people that had destroyed that which benefited my family, The height of stupidity.

The California I live in (Bay Area) is dysfunctional, has excessively high taxes, has a cost of living through the roof, is ruled iron-fist-like by left wing Democrats who sign onto every kook idea like bullet trains to nowhere that cost gazillions, has effectively eliminated the second amendment, is a sanctuary state where Spanish seems to be competing for the state’s official language, has homeless encampments overrunning formerly desireable locations, and in and on.
San Francisco has an official poop patrol whose sole job it is to clean up all the feces that homeless people deposit on the sidewalk.
I liked it better when Reagan was governor. And when he was President California was indeed the golden state.
Since then it’s gone straight downhill.
