What has and will always make America great is freedom of the press and that, despite all the wealth and political pressure, all the special interests and prejudices, we will eventually right our wrongs, no matter how it hurts. No other country can say that. American exceptionalism! To insult this fine and glorious march to be what our founding fathers envisioned, maybe what God envisioned, by a nation of laws, no matter how slow or faltering, is an utter disgrace. I would almost say an act of s******n but whoever invented it was too stupid to know our history.

Howdy, howdy! Of course I prefers Canadians. They're white, articulate and intelligent. However, don't believe Canada can afford the loss of 25 million citizens.

If I could have chosen a permanent posting after seminary I would have chosen to be a missionary priest in the bush in Zimbabwe. I doubt my wife would have been thrilled. A good friend, now deceased, was a missionary Anglican (COE) in Zimbabwe. There was a time he felt it necessary to sleep with a pistol under his pillow. He finally was forced to take his family and flee. The people were beautiful, their African a Capella singing on Easter, glorious. I'm sad that this desire never materialized but God is good.

I understand your desire to hijack topics, but I would appreciate it if you could return to the subject.... the young adults and teens who the border patrol and DHS want to deport. The illegal crossings at our borders have reached a 13 year high.... and border patrol is struggling. Under current law, children who enter from non-contiguous countries, which effectively means children from Central America, are t***sferred to the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services, which works to reunite them with a relative or sponsor in the United States. And under a federal court agreement, immigrant families with children cannot be detained longer than 20 days. What about those youngsters without a sponsor or relative.... they are placed in the "system" that rarely cares for their well being and many of those 'foster' environments routinely turn out maladjusted and angry adults.

The step in the right direction is to deport them back to their homes/countries where they do have families, where there is a common language, familiarities that would supply them with emotional stabilities. It is rarely healthy for a child or young adult to be completely uprooted from their routines and placed in completely unfamiliar surroundings without the safety net of a family member. In some circumstances it is necessary, for example if the child is being abused by a family member.... otherwise, it is safer for the child/young adult to remain with their family and provided support.

And should you ever depart from your need to save the world singlehandedly from Conservatives, you too would recognize that deporting these young people is in their best interest and that of the USA. Running from problems is never the answer.

Running from problems for many of these immigrants is the only answer. Try to imagine being so desperate. America to them still, despite Trump, remains a beacon of Liberty. Get your mind around abject poverty, drug cartels, corrupt police, gang wars and blood feuds, and no HBO. You, like so many on the Right, do not see these people as humans. What are they? A threat to our border, culture, and jobs? The "i*****l a***n" moniker makes them "other" and easy to h**e, not to think of as people, like the Jews in Germany or the Serbs or many other groups throughout history. This is not a stretch, nor even any need for muscle to lift this obvious point.
