When Trump gets into political hot water back home, he will throw anything under the bus to take off the pressure. Move the American Embassy to Jerusalem. Pull our troops out of Syria. Send the armed forces to our Southern border. Give Israel the Golan Heights. Stop new sanctions against North Korea. He would sacrifice a bull to Baal if he thought it helpful. This article is just about one of his desperate and dangerous actions, from a highly informed source. An extremely knowledgeable and professional source that cannot be dismissed.

The head of the Marine Corps ripped President Donald Trump’s order to deploy troops to guard the southern border and “emergency” funding t***sfers from the military to build his wall as an “unacceptable risk” to Marine “combat readiness.”

The “unplanned/unbudgeted” deployment, as well as funding shifts for border security, has helped lead to the cancellation of military training in at least five countries, Marine Corps Gen. Robert Neller wrote in two memos to Navy Secretary Richard Spencer, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

Trump plans to move about $6.1 billion from Pentagon coffers to pay for building the wall.

Neller’s memos, dated Feb. 19 and March 18, said money and manpower was also being drained by costs to repair bases and housing caused by hurricanes Florence and Michael, new housing allowances and civilian pay raises.

eller called the demands “fiscal challenges without precedent.” He said “border funding t***sfers” have eliminated money that would have otherwise been used to address other shortfalls.

Because of the budgeting, Neller wrote that he has canceled training exercises in Scotland, Mongolia and Indonesia, and reduced participation in joint exercises with Australia and South Korea.

Trump has claimed the American military and a multibillion-dollar wall is needed at the southern border to stop an “invasion” of immigrants. But apprehensions of people illegally crossing the border peaked at 1.6 million 19 years ago, and have generally fallen since, to 400,000 last year.

Trump has ordered the deployment of some 6,000 troops from the National Guard, the Marines, Army, Navy and Air Force at the border until September.

Senate Armed Services Committee ranking member Jack Reed (D-R.I.) said Trump has “ignored the facts, ignored the experts, and ignored a big bipartisan v**e against his views on border security. I hope he doesn’t try to ignore this memo. Decorated senior military leaders are raising clear warning f**gs and trying to prevent our military from being damaged,” he added.

Congress has ignored the concerns of the REAL experts; The US Border Patrol, who supports Trump's plans for more wall and more agents, and more everything. Of course, I realize that the professional law enforcement actually on the ground and dealing with this mess every day has a lot of gall, thinking they know more about it than a brainless Liberal politician a couple of thousand miles away.

Years of committed and admirable service to this country and our fighting men Marine Corps Gen. Robert Neller is ignored? The topic is on the military deployment being a huge mistake and not a bait-and-switch about the Border Patrol. Pay attention! You are way off the topic.

You have no idea what you are talking about. General Neller may be an expert on combat, but he is not one on border security and law enforcement. My point was that the military is on the border because of Congressional foot-d**gging and job shirking. Had the douche bags in the capitol building done their job, instead of sitting around with their thumbs up their collective ass for more than 30 years this would not have been necessary. The Border Patrol would HAVE the resources it needs to do it's job.

While I totally agree with you I think the Marines are not the ones to send to the border unless we intend to k**l people. That's what the Marines train for. They are shooters not negotiators. Marines are taught to shoot to k**l, no talk, no compromise.

If we send Marines to the boarder, and I don't have a problem with this. they should be able to tell the invaders to turn around or you'll be shot and if they refuse, shoot a couple. That will be the end of the invasion in my opinion.

When the l*****t in this country b***h about that, they should be visited by the Marines as well. If that's the case, allow me to be a short time Marine. Mike

My dad was a career Marine and as bad assed as he was, he'd never would have have done that and would have kicked my ass if I had suggested it but unfortunately the times have change too much. Mike

Jeez Louise! Pay freaking attention. The thread has nothing whatsoever to do with border security. The fact you admitted he is an expert on combat is the point of this thread. He calls the deployment of troops to the border by Trump, from a military and not a border security point, as a huge mistake. Do you hear me now?

Clean out your ears. The military is on the damn border because Congress refuses to fund the Border Patrol. A story from USMC Life...

Marines with 2nd and 3rd Intel Battalion, Ground Sensor Platoon, under tactical control of Joint Task Force North, work in support of the U.S. Border Patrol in detecting, identifying, and alerting USBP of potential narcotics smuggling, human trafficking and illegal personnel.

Working in conjunction with the U.S. Border Patrol, the primary mission is to detect t***snational threats to the homeland in order to prevent terrorists’ weapons, including, weapons of mass destruction, from entering the United States.

Several drug trafficking organizations smuggle high volumes of illegal narcotics from Mexico to the United States for mass distribution. Drug smugglers use the heavy vegetation of to avoid surveillance and observation from U.S. Border Patrol in an attempt to evade detention and processing.

When apprehended by USBP, undocumented aliens or UDAs are processed and then are t***sferred to other government agencies for final disposition such as release with court date or deportation. In cases where drugs are involved, the drugs are confiscated and handed over to the Drug Enforcement Agency for proper disposal.
Having the Marines there provides a second set of eyes to support the mission. Marines place these sensors along the border in areas of interest known to be popular for crossing.

“These sensors allow the border patrol agents to cover more territory with fewer personnel, allowing them to capture UDA’s and Drug Trafficking Organizations personnel smuggling narcotics from Mexico into the U.S.,” said Col. Russ Draper, the Regional Support Team Chief, Joint Task Force North. “The Marines are providing a valuable service by helping to increase the capacity to secure the border.”

Another device Marines use is an imager, which set up similar to a sensor, is not easily detected. Unlike a sensor, when the imager is activated it captures a picture which can make for easy identification of traffickers.

“The Marine Corps is providing a unique capability that not many organizations have,” Draper said. “Their professionalism and behavior is impacting JTF-N and enhancing the relationships with the partners they work alongside.”
Marines rotated 12 or 24 hour duty evolutions depending on the station they were at. During their duty, Marines watched for activations and when they saw something suspicious they would call it in to the Border Patrol, who would relay the message to agents they have in that area to investigate.

The set-up of some of the stations allowed the Marines to work side-by-side with the Border Patrol agents, but for other stations it is important they maintained good communication with each other. With good cooperation, it makes working together easier and allows the group to achieve their common goal.

“It’s been a lot of fun, and is really cool to work with another government agency,” said a tactical remote sensor systems technician with 3rd Intel Bn, GSP. “We learn a lot from each other which makes for a really good experience.”

Working with the Border Patrol provided mutual benefits for the Marines. Not only were they able to help, but as a deployment they gained experience in handling and utilizing their equipment.

“We have been coming out here for several years now,” said the section leader with 2nd Intel Bn, GSP. “It’s a great way to employ our gear and get real-world training. You can’t recreate this kind of environment and it allows us to test all our capabilities with our equipment.”

In past years, the Marines had supported a two-month mission where they would spend only a little time at each station before moving on to the next. This year’s mission enabled them to bring more gear and cover a greater expanse of the border so they could monitor all stations for the entire operation.

“We love supporting the Border Patrol and want to catch the illicit activity that comes across just as much as they do,” said the section leader with 2nd Intel Bn, GSP. “The mission allows us to support the Border Patrol for an extended period of time without losing coverage along the border.”

With great success during the operation, the Marines have high hopes of returning in the upcoming years.
“We all play a really pivotal role here and we work well together,” said a tactical remote sensor systems technician with 3rd Intel Bn, GSP. “I believe we’ll have a lot of success in the future.”

You could use some reality comprehension sk**ls. Exactly how elements of a couple of battalions of Marines deploying temporarily along the border will affect combat readiness is a good question.

Lemme get this straight.

First of all, liberals don't have much use for our military, the lib progs in congress are the worst. Liberals have screamed their heads off for years about America getting involved in "foreign" wars, condemning America for being the world's cop and dropping bombs on another country's kids. We should stay the hell out of other nation's business. So, why is cancelling military training in FIVE foreign countries a problem?

Do you read what you write? So we should be fighting in Syria. OK who are we fighting for, the 'freedom' fighters or Al Qaeda or ISIS, maybe Russia? With obama arming a different one each week and leaving Americans to die to hide the facts and still lying about it to this day it's hard to keep up. It can't be ISIS that obama said would take a decade to defeat cause Trump finished them off last year. Those Daisy Cutters Trump started dropping on those Muslim mental midgets made all those weapons obama gave them pretty much useless. Sort of like 'Smoke em if ya got em' only obama was always smoking the wrong ones a problem Trump avoided with direct hits. I heard we are pulling out of Syria since it's a s**t hole and we have nothing there to gain.

So if the country's biggest threat right now isn't some uneducated Muslim goat humper what is? If I were some L*****t Marine Officer war strategist with my head stored in the dark and stanky place I could figure it out.. But we can all agree on the last place we need troops on a border that is being over ran like no time in it's history. Not due to some obama genocide in Central America but from L*****t democrats drawing these uneducated criminals here like flies to crap cause everybody knows uneducated criminals are always sucking the nation for all it's worth while returning squat and are all democrats.

Suck it up, the t***h is suppose to hurt.
