Because conservatives, unlike Democrats in general, are mature enough to know the difference between "figurative" and "literal," and have a sense of humor and a sense of irony.

Democrats, these days, are the opposite and therefore easily incited. A conservative can be told something and accept it like a mature human being, while a Democrat might go off and start shooting Republicans at a softball game... or someplace.
