I see California and New York, just to name two, standing defiantly against what they think
is an unjust Government effort to send millions of undocumented persons back to wherever
they came from. We in the South once stood against what we considered a dictatorially strong
central government that disregarded the laws made by our state governments. In other words, we chose to withdraw from the Union over the issue of States Rights.
Oh, I know what the history books written by the victors tell you. I simply would like to point out that Lincoln
himself said that where s***ery was legal it would remain legal if only those States returned to the Union.
By the time he changed his mind tens of thousands on both sides had already perished in the war. I ask what cause did THEY die for?
With a one ruling fits all 50 States Supreme Court and a fractured legislative branch not to mention a hostile media/citizenry aligned against the President I fail to see how we can remain United very much longer.

In fact a Russian writer predicted a few years ago that the United States would split four ways. It appears he may have been onto something. The nincompoops in the House must shift to the Center or we may all lose.

I agree with you but it isn't just the white house, congress needs to move to center as well, both the house and the senate.

Ma'am,
The loneliest position to take is the middle of the road. Few claim to be while fewer adhere to the concept. Today, you are either a liberal or conservative and get all the baggage that comes with either label. Short of writing a new constitution it appears to me too that that Russian has it right. There is for me a certain appeal living with and around like minded people impossible to find under the heel of a strong central government. Wouldn't be nice to lawfully say no to a motorcycle club member with no job and no references when he seeks to rent an apartment in a building that you own?

Why alienate half the people on this site like some dimwitted movie star by making a public political statement? I feel both sides have strong arguments and my opinion matters not...except to me. Sorry.

It doesn't matter what we want. Democracies are controlled by public opinion, and the press determines what we talk about. We are becoming a boiling pot of innumerable ethnicities, racial hostility, and competing factions. The small group running our media do not have the best interests of Americans at heart, or we would have never opened our borders in 1965.

When I go to the grocery store for two items and remember them both, it's a win.
