Garland was as close to being a centrist as it gets, the left didn't like the fact that he has a slight right lean on the scale.
To right conservatives the judges that disagree with the conservative judges must be hard liberal, there is no ability to see that centrist positions can easily go against a hard right.
Obama's picks agree with the conservatives more than the right agrees with the "liberals". And they go both ways more than the right judges do, which would be a giveaway that they will rule as they see it versus to a conservative position.
Do you admit that Garland was actually about as centrist as you could hope to find? If you can't you are letting the fact that Obama picked him tell you that he must be liberal and that was not true. Garland was a republican, but he ruled the bench with a fair eye toward upholding the law. I'd take a whole bench made up of republicans like that.

No, as I've said it would be a whole bench of centrists like Garland... centrists. A centrist judge has a long history of stable and fair decisions that adhere right down the line as far as the law is concerned... it's what makes them a centrist.
The right wouldn't like a purely centrist bench because it would be sticking with what the constitution says versus the bible or right wing political ideology. A centrist bench would be too liberal for the right.

Obama when he picked Garland knew that he had to pick someone that leaned just a hair right to be acceptable to the GOP. Obama could have picked Kavanaugh and he wouldn't have been confirmed by McConnell.
