l.a. country library 1 stop shop for immigration
my local los Angeles library has a new and expanded section dev**ed to people getting citizenship. its featured prominently on the website that these materials are for people who want legal documentation, ppl who have been living here for years.
Citizenship classes. So people can learn about their adopted country of 3-10 years. Sometimes I think Southern California is a political island formed from. Alcatraz level residents.
There are appointments and a sliding scale for obtaining the rights to living in this country after years and possibly decades of tax evasion. The books in Spanish outnumber the English and most of them never get checked out.
The mostly Hispanic patrons of this library are for Latina nannies and crying white babies, teenagers k*****g time before going home, homeless using the computers, and Hispanic local residents checking out free Disney DVD's.
Hail literacy.
Documentation is nice but how do these ppl explain 2-16 years of living in this country and (claiming) they are not working?
New request for citizenship after 15 years at the same California address, or, working illegally, and then after 6-10 years without a visa taking classes to obtain citizenship because they "already" have a JOB?
if I went to France or Norway or Russia would the local libraries have sections in English dev**ed to obtaining citizenship with that country's population angry at daily totals in the thousands streaming across the border?
That’s cause trumps new law will go into effect and they can continue to live on our dime!!! They must learn English and assimilate! No welfare!!!
I have been at social security and they had brochures in 17 languages but no English
I heard women saying they didn't know who their upcoming baby father was and pretended not to understand English.
Then when the worker shrugged and stamped their food stamps application while they were waiting for the voucher they cracked their phone in the restroom and spoke English to the person on the other line.
Their employer, while they were playing jobless at the center.
I don't think ppl who can't speak English can interview or communicate with employers reasonably expecting jobs.
Communicating with customers patrons clients is most jobs, people.
so without those sk**ls, or even an interest in learning English, how can they possibly qualify for visas?
Aloha Tommsteyer,
You may just have too much time on your hands. Many "immigrants" have been paying taxes on earnings yet don't file for tax returns. The world is a cruel place and getting crueler. I hope you're safe as I do with all people everywhere.
But lighten up! People need to survive. They need the basics. Most want to work - and hard. Do you?
